Place widgets on the home screen. wherever it suits you. and all important information will always be at your fingertIPs.

IOS 14 widgets take up at least 4 icon spaces.

For myself, I found the most convenient widget of the “Weather” application and the calendar. you can see the day plan for today in the calendar or the weather for the next two hours without opening the application. As for widgets for third-party applications, there are not very many of them yet, but in the next few days (and weeks) developers should have time to update their applications and add support for widgets. Still, iOS 14 came out quite recently.

The excitement that was on the web a couple of hours before the release of iOS 14 can be compared to the celebration during the World Cup. Among the most visible features of the new version of iOS are widgets, which in some cases may be very helpful. After all, you can install a widget not only for a standard application, but also for any other, if the developer has provided this functionality and updated his program in the App Store.

Choose your own order and stick to it

Consistency is the best method to be productive on an IPhone. There are many ways to sort apps, but they will only work if you follow your own set of rules.

Arrange icons by parameters:

Alphabetically. The way of arranging icons in alphabetical order (from A to Z) is quite convenient, but if there are a lot of applications, they can “crawl” over several screens. In this case, try to create folders like A to C, D to F, and so on.

By color: If you are used to navigating by color, group the icons in the same color scheme according to our example.

By association: Another way out is to place the icons of similar applications next to each other. For example, in the center, place the key applications “Mail”, “Messages”, Safari, on the second screen. work tools such as Dropbox, Evernote and OneDrive, on the third. games.

By Action: This recommendation applies to folders. Instead of vague terms like “shopping” or “news”, use verbs (“listen”, “read” or “watch”) in folder names. Thus, when searching for a program, you just need to open the corresponding folder with applications.

How to return the arrangement of icons to “factory order

If there are too many icons on the home screen, you can return the desktop to the “factory” view. This little trick will arrange the apps in the order the Apple engineers intended. Open “Settings” → “General” → “Reset” → “Reset Settings Home”.

How To Change Screen On iOS 14

As a result of this action, the default applications will be displayed on the home screen, and all the programs you downloaded and the folders you created will be located on the following pages of the screen. While you might not like the default icon layout, this method will help you separate the apps and start organizing them on the home screen.

How to arrange icons anywhere on the IPhone and IPad desktop

Thanks to the Teams app, which appeared in iOS 12, as well as the third-party toolIPhone, you can easily arrange icons anywhere on the screen, which iOS does not allow by default. We talked in detail about THESE two methods in this material.

Create a desktop that’s comfortable for you

This may sound obvious, but we all use our IPhone in different ways. Some users launch the same four apps every day, rarely opening anything else, others download ten games every week, and those who enjoy running or cycling often use apps like Runtastic and Music.

The main screen is intended for the most useful applications, access to which is carried out with one tap, and all folders are best placed on the second “page”. You can view information about the most frequently used applications in the “Settings” → “Battery” section. Click the clock icon to display statistics on the usage time of each app.

The second screen is a great place to place folders, since you don’t need to do a lot of taps and swIPes to access them. If there are not many applications, you can completely refuse folders.

Do you spend a lot of time looking for the app you use all the time? Move its icon closer to the top of the list, and move little-used programs a little further. Organize programs on the home screen based on their usefulness and frequency of use.

How to Customize Your IPhone’s Home Screen: TIPs for Organizing Your Home Screen Properly

Many IPhone and IPad owners have probably faced a problem when they have to spend a lot of time looking for the desired program, lost among a huge number of installed applications. Convenient organization of application icons will help prevent such situations and make your IPhone more productive.

Remember, you can always use Spotlight to find apps. Just drag down the top of the display to bring up a search term (or swIPe left and hit Search) and enter the name of the program.

Alternatively, you can use the Siri voice assistant.

Use folders

iOS allows folders to be placed in the Dock. You can put your favorite applications on the panel and they will be available from any screen. In fact, there is no limit to the number of folders in the Dock, but it is better to limit yourself to two, for example, “Messages” and “Mail”.

When there are a significant number of applications, folders are a necessary evil, but sorting into folders does not always make the task of finding an application easier. In this case, you can use emoji in the names of the folders, which will not only please the eye, but also allow you to be creative.

Actions that can be performed without launching applications

With the release of iOS 11, users finally have the ability to remove native apps. If necessary, programs such as “Contacts” or “Promotions” can be downloaded from the App Store, so now feel free to uninstall applications you do not need.

Applications that you can get rid of, or at least “bury” in a folder:

  • SwIPe the camera up to bring up the “Control Center” (or swIPe left on the lock screen) and launch the camera;
  • Timer / Alarm / World Clock: All these options are contained in one application, which can be accessed from the “Control Center” (instructions)
  • Calculator: Accessible from the “Control Center”;
  • Contacts: The “Phone” application has the same functionality, it just opens on another tab;
  • Mail: Not important if you use Gmail or any other iOS email client;
  • Shazam: You can now ask Siri in the song that plays Nearby.

Creating a new team in the application “Commands”

After going to the folder you created, click on the plus in the upper right corner.

Now click on the button “Add action” or below you can use the search immediately. The two options are completely identical.

The next step is to select the action that we want to do. In our example, we will make an icon that, after clicking on it, will open our website websoftex.ru.

We choose the first option called “Applications”.

Now let’s choose the application that will open our site for us. To do this, let’s choose, for example, the Safari browser.

After selecting the Safari browser, you need to write the url address, for this we select the item “Open URL”.

To enter a site URL, you need to click on the URL and specify the path to a specific site. In our case, this is https://websoftex.ru

After entering the website URL, click on the icon in the upper right “.”

Enter your team name. In our example, we will write “open websoftex”.

How it works?

Let’s first figure out how the functionality of changing icons on your device works.

After the release of the new IOS 14, which became available on September 15, 2020, many possibilities appeared, and one of these possibilities is the placement of your icons on the screen “Home”.

The princIPle of operation of such icons is to edit commands in a standard Apple application “Commands”.

Previously, this application was also on IOS 13, but it was not possible to put commands directly on the desktop, only in the section “Widgets”.

With the new update, such an opportunity has appeared, since in addition to your icons, you can add widgets from standard Apple applications and also from third-party.

But in this article we will NOT cover all the delights of IOS 14, we will talk about only one, this is changing icons on absolutely any application.

Before we change the pictures in applications, I would like to say that in fact, this is NOT replacing icons in the applications themselves, but creating a command and assigning it a random picture or icon, followed by placing it on the working screen of your device.

In fact, you create certain commands and assign an icon to this command so that you can quickly find it on the working screen of the device.

So what will be placed on your home screen will be called “bookmark”, not an application. Using a widget “bookmarks” all the magic and will happen.

Creating a new folder in the application “Commands”

Before creating a new team, let’s first create a folder for our convenience, so that the teams are strictly distributed among themselves and you do not lose them.

Go to the application “Commands”.

Click on the arrow in the left corner.

In the upper right corner, click on the folder icon.

Name your folder whatever you like and click “add”. In our case, we’ll name the folder “websoftex”.

Now you have your own folder, let’s click on it.

Adding your own picture for the icon in the application “Commands”

To do this, click on the button “Add to Home Screen”.

Then click on the icon on the left and select the desired item. In our case, the picture is located in the photo, so we select the item “Select photo”.

Select the desired picture and crop to taste. In this case, we’ll leave it as it is. After that we press the button “Choose”.

Now it’s time to change the name of our icon. Click on the area near the picture and enter a suitable name.

At the top you can see how your icon will be displayed on the home screen. After entering the name, click on the button “Add to” up.

Press the “Finish” button and exit to the working screen by pressing the button “Home” and see our newly created bookmark icon.

If we click on our icon from our example, then immediately after clicking our website will open.

This completes the process of changing the icon. Now you know how to create your own icons.

As you can see everything works.

Changing the command icon in the application “Commands”

Then clicked on the icon on the left, you can choose any icon for your team by default, you can also change the color.

Great, we created our own icon with you.

But this is not enough, we want to put our own picture, and not choose from those offered by the standard.

Cons of a custom icon

The only drawback I would like to note is that at the moment when we click on the icon, the application first opens “commands”, and then directly to our application.

It happens quickly enough, but it is impossible not to notice it.

It is possible that in the next updates this will be fixed.

At the moment, this is not very pleasant, as there is actually a slight delay in opening the application. Actually, many may not like it.

We hope that our detailed instructions helped you and you were able to create your own unique icon.

What to do with the original app icon?

If your app was already on the home screen, it will now show two SEPARATE icons for it. Just remove the original icon by moving it to the Application Library. Hold your finger on the icon, select “Delete application” and in the pop-up window, click “Move to application library”. the original icon will disappear.

How to change app icons in iOS 14

With the trick, you can use any photo or pre-made icon and set it as an icon for any application, including Apple branded services. You can even use a third-party font when entering the app name for the Home screen. It is also worth noting that the method also works on the IPad (if desired).

What should be done:

  • Click on the “New command” button (icon “”) in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Click on the “Add Action” button.
  • In the directory that opens, find the action “Open Application” and click on it. An action will appear in the command.

What you need to know before starting customization

There is one important detail in the method, which is also the main catch. When you click on the icon for the application created for “Commands”, it will first open the same “Commands” application, and then the application for which the shortcut is intended. As a result, an extra second is added to the startup process, which is slightly slower than usual. “Commands” will open each time before starting the application. You cannot speed up anything here or reconfigure in a different way.

In addition, notification stickers are NOT supported in such icons, and if you want to change absolutely all icons of frequently used applications, then it will take you much more time. half an hour, time, five hours, or at least the whole day. Of course, it all depends on the number of apps and the desire to stand out. you decide.

How to create themes for IPhone and IPad: how to change app icons in iOS 14 without jailbreak

The new operating system iOS 14 has become a huge news feed on the Internet, forcing many to pay attention to Apple again. Soon after the release of the update, an unexpected trend started in the open. to completely change the design of the IPhone home screen. The number of tweets has already exceeded 200 thousand, in just one week. To do this, you need the Teams application, which is already on your smartphone, and literally a few minutes of time, after which the standard application icons will be transformed beyond recognition. The method is very simple, completely official and, most importantly, does not require any jailbreak.

Note: Commands can be a tricky application to understand because it allows you to create multi-step processes to automatically perform a wide variety of actions, but in this case, the command includes only one basic component.

Examples of design options

There are dozens of interesting, strange and very unusual home screen designs in netizens. Some play nostaLGia by repeating the skeuomorphism of iOS 6, some subtly make up the aesthetics of icons and widgets based on color or architectural forms, others copy the styles of popular TV shows and games. In general, watch and rate yourself! What happened to you?

Studio widgets

First of all, let’s say thanks to the Cupertinos for widgets. Whaaaaat? Roughly speaking, this is a slightly enlarged application icons, which can be placed on the “Home” panel. There are three size options for widgets and they look like this:

Widgets for standard iOS applications came out with the 14th firmware, but the widgets of the second applications will have to wait for now.

Home screen on iOS plus widgets, minus standard icons

Customizing the desktop on the IPhone a month ago sounded like something unreal. Despite the fact that androids have had such a feature for a long time, the iOS system gave this opportunity to users only with the release of 14 “firmware”. Previously, all we could do was move icons and mix them into folders. So what do we have now?

How to add widgets?

To place the widget on the desktop you need:

a) activate the menu for editing the “Home” screen (just hold your finger on any point on the display)

b) click on “” in the upper left corner;

c) select the required widget and its size;

d) place the widget on the screen where it is most convenient for you.

Changing application icons

The second interesting feature is the ability to change the icon of the application itself. For example, instead of the usual purple Viber handset, you can set your favorite sticker or any other picture. So, your desktop can resemble “Game of Thrones” or have a stylish minimalist design.

How to do it? Through the “Commands” application. Events here and click on “” in the upper right corner. “Add action”. “scrIPts”. “Open application”. Then select the application you want and click on “” in the upper right corner. Here you can choose an icon among various symbols, choose its color.

If you want to go further and “decorate” the application with a full picture or photo, then click on “Add to Home Screen. Here select the desired file and voila!

For example, I want to change the Spotify app icon.

However, there is a nuance: such an icon will only be a command to launch the application. Therefore, at first, when you start, you will be thrown to the quick command menu and only then to the application itself. But It takes half a second, no more;)

Application Library

Also, iOS 14 has another cool thing. application library. To “get there” before it, you need to scroll the screen home as far as possible to the right. Here you can find all the applications that are on your smartphone.

But the main advantage “Libraries” that you can come here “hide” icons from the desktop. Let’s say you have the same Spotify, but you use it sooooo rarely. You can just “hide” application icon: it will not appear on the screen “Home”, but you will NOT have to delete it either. When you want to listen to music. events to the app library and voila! 😉

IOS 14 aesthetics: how to change the IPhone home screen

Social media is going crazy with new IPhone home screen settings.

If you have been to or. you’ve probably noticed the “IPhone aesthetics” or “iOS 14 home screen” trend. The fact is that iOS 14 was the first operating system in IPhones that allowed people to customize the look of their home screen using widgets. one of the main features of the latest version of the OS.

People, of course, began to share theirs on social networks. But then some adventurous users discovered that not only can you customize the home screen layout using iOS 14 widgets, but also customize app icons on the home screen.

But customizing custom app icons is NOT a built-in feature in iOS 14. This can be done through a workaround using the Shortcuts app, which is Apple’s app.

Here’s what to do if you want to customize app icons in iOS 14:

  • Will need an IPhone running iOS 14 or newer (obviously)
  • Application “Shortcuts”. It is on IPhone by default, but if you accidentally delete it, you’ll have to re-download it from the App Store.
  • A collection of images that you want to use as application icons. You can find image sets of app icons online, or literally create your own using images from photo albums.
  • Once you have selected images for your icons, make sure they are saved to your IPhone’s Camera Roll.

Collected? Okay. Move on:

  • Open the Shortcuts app.
  • Click the button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Click “Add Action”.
  • Tap the search box in the pop-up menu that appears and search for “open application”.
  • Under the Actions heading, click Open Application”.
  • On the “New Shortcuts” screen that appears, click the blue “Select” link.
  • On the Application Selection pop-up window, Tap the application for which you want to customize the icon.
  • Back on the New Shortcuts screen, tap the three dots (.) in the upper right corner.
  • On the details screen, click “Add to Home Screen”.
  • Under the heading “Name and Home Screen Icon” click on the generic icon of the new shortcut.
  • In the pop-up menu, click “Select Photo”.
  • In the pop-up window for selecting images in the camera roll, tap the photo you want to use as the icon image.
  • Enlarge the photo to crop it if you want, then hit “Select”.
  • Under the heading “Home Screen Name and Icon” you will see your own application icon. Then click on the “New Shortcut” text next to it to name the shortcut. In this case, you will want to name it the same as the name of the application for which you are creating the icon.
  • In the upper right corner, click the “Add” button.
  • Tap Done and go back to the IPhone home screen.
  • After completing all these steps, you will see the new application icon on the home screen.

But! There are a few more things to keep in mind when using this method to change app icons:

You are NOT changing the actual app icon. Instead, you created a shortcut for this app with its own icon and placed that shortcut on your home screen. You can check this by finding the app you created the shortcut for and see if it still has the original icon.

This means that if you want your home screen to look neat and show only customized app icons, you need to move all real apps to a folder on another home screen to hide them.

Also note that when you click on one of THESE app icons, It doesn’t launch the app right away. Instead, the Shortcuts application will launch to process the shortcut, and only then will it actually launch.

App icon shortcuts will NOT display alerts. So, if you create a custom app icon shortcut for Mail app, this shortcut will not display red numbered icon when new emails are received.

In other words, this is NOT a perfect solution. nevertheless, it’s cute new fun for people who have nothing to do.
