How to enable screen lock on Android
Soft Lock Screen. screenshots of the application (from the developers)
The application allows you to easily and quickly turn on the smartphone screen lock, customize the wallpaper, choose a screensaver, calendar, weather, etc. The application really surprises with its bright colors and ease of use!
If desired, the wallpaper on the screensaver will change automatically, new every day, delighting and surprising you.
Note: on some phones it is impossible (or problematic) to change the screensaver. The same application allows you to fix it.
- beautiful and user-friendly interface with HD wallpapers (by the way, all wallpapers have been tested by the program developers, so any slag will not be shown!);
- efficiency: developers have brought some of the most needed applications to the lock screen (for example, you can quickly turn on a flashlight, notebook, etc.);
- security: you can put a password or pattern to protect your smartphone (moreover, the key can be with photos of people close to you, see the photo above).
LOCKit. screenshots of the application (from the developers)
LOCKit is a program designed specifically to protect personal data. In addition to directly blocking the screen, it is possible to block applications, photos, contacts.
In addition to this, there is a function of protecting the phone from theft. it helps to find the phone and catch the thief.
By the way, such a thing as “Burglar’s selfie” helps in this. a photo of the person who entered the wrong PIN code or drew a graphic key is automatically taken.
Well, in addition, you can set HD wallpapers (beautiful and pleasing to the eye ).
In principle, there are a lot of such applications, each with its own pros / cons. I think it makes no sense to consider dozens (hundreds) of these applications within the framework of this article.
Everyone, having entered the Play-market, can experimentally try and find an application to their liking.
The PIN is a 4-digit type of password. Many users trust numbers more than graphic snakes drawn on the screen.
In addition, the PIN code is used everywhere, for example, on bank cards, on SIM cards, etc.
- you need to open the Android settings, the “Security” tab;
- then open the “Screen lock” section (screenshots, by the way, are given above, when setting up protection using a graphic key);
- then select the “PIN-code” protection option and enter 4 digits in sequence;
Note: many people doubt the security of the PIN code, allegedly that it can be easily guessable.
I can argue with them: in total, it turns out that you need to check 10,000 combinations. You need to sort through them manually, besides, after several incorrect attempts to enter the PIN-code. Android will block the password entry for 30 seconds.
Those. a purely theoretically curious person will have to sit at your phone for more than one day! If your phone is left unattended for such a long period, I think that no protection and no password will help you.
By default, the Android screen lock is usually removed after a simple swipe of your finger across the screen (which will protect you only if the phone accidentally turns on, for example, in your ). Therefore, it is recommended to replace this method with a safer one.
The easiest way to protect yourself is to use a pattern: the essence is that you need to draw a small “snake” consisting of 4-9 points with your finger. If you know this “snake”. then it is done easily and quickly.
Nevertheless, such protection allows you to seriously protect your device from curiosity and prying eyes.
For example: even a snake of 4 points has 1624 combinations, and of 9. 140704. accidentally picking the right combination (when you don’t even know how many points) is very, very difficult.
To establish this protection, you must:
- open Android settings;
- then open the “Security” tab;
Now you need to “draw” a snake on the screen with 9 dots. This is done quite simply (most importantly, do not forget it!). An example is shown in the screenshot below;
What not to do! 1) Connect start and end point. 2) Make a break between points in the key. 3) Use less than four points. 4) Use any point twice.
Now, when you want to turn on the phone and see the menu. first of all, you will need to unlock the screen by entering the pattern. Until you enter it, the phone will be locked from the eyes of strangers.
Fingerprint (Fingerprint ID)
On the overwhelming majority of new phones, specials began to be installed. a sensor for scanning a fingerprint (i.e. the device will turn on only if its owner touches it!).
This approach is very convenient, and allows you to relatively reliably protect the device from various “accidents”.
If you have this sensor, then its activation does not take more than 1 minute. First you need to enter the Android security settings, and open the tab responsible for “fingerprints” (in different phones. the name may vary slightly). See screenshot below
Settings. security and privacy
Next, you need to create several fingerprint IDs. the device will remember them (and allow “them” to turn on the device in the future).
Note: the pattern is usually connected in parallel with the fingerprint protection (this can be very useful if the device does not recognize wet fingers.).
It is one of the most reliable lock screen protectors out there. The length of the password can be from 4 to 17 characters, and taking into account the fact that the characters can be both Latin and Cyrillic (large and small). plus numbers and special signs. you get multimillion-dollar combinations.
Even with the help of special software, it is extremely difficult to find a password.
To set a password, you must also open the settings in the following path: “Security / Screen lock / Password”. Next, you need to enter a password twice and select the option to show notifications. Password setting is shown in the screenshot below.
Screen lock on Android: how to set up? We protect our personal information from strangers: pattern, fingerprint, PIN and password
I think that most of us on a mobile phone (or tablet) have files and information that we would not like to show
There are many ways to protect it, but one of the simplest and most reliable is to set a screen lock so that no one but you can turn on the phone (so that an Android phone can easily do this).
Such protection, of course, will not protect you from professional hackers, but for most users it is not necessary. If you accidentally, say, forget your phone at work, then no one will be able to see your correspondence and photos. What, in general, is what you need!
In this article I will look at several ways how you can set up a screen lock on Android using various methods: pattern, PIN, password, and special utilities.
I recommend choosing a password that you will not forget. No matter how funny it was, but more than once I had to meet with such a situation that people forgot their passwords in 1-2 minutes after they set them.
Keep in mind that if you forget the password to unlock the screen, then in some cases it will be enough to enter the data from your Google account, and in some you will need to reset the phone to factory settings (or even reflash).
Android screen lock methods
What to do if you forgot your key / password?
In this I am not an expert, and I will give only the basic methods. By the way, I recommend that you look for an unlocking option specifically for your phone model (perhaps there is an option much easier than the universal ones offered by many authors).
1) Google account password
In the most innocuous case, after incorrectly entering the pattern (usually you need to enter 5 times), you should see a window prompting you to enter data from your Google account.
Enter your data, and if the phone was able to access the network (for example, connected via Wi-Fi), then you can reset the password.
Note: not always and not on all devices such a window appears with the ability to recover the password. over, if the password was set using special applications.
This is a special reboot of the device, which will restore the factory settings of the system.
This deletes all user data: contacts, SMS, passwords, applications, etc. All this data cannot be restored, so I do not advise you to rush to this procedure.
Hard Reset is usually used as the most extreme measure when errors, failures, problems with the input of the device occur, when other methods do not work.
How to reset Android settings to factory settings [Hard Reset] (ie delete all data from phone, tablet)
The topic is quite extensive and specific. If you have never done this before, I recommend contacting the service center.
By the way, in some cases it is possible to enter the phone settings menu and disable the lock. To do this, try to wait for some kind of notification, for example, that the battery is discharged and needs to be charged (this “trick” worked on many devices).
That, in fact, is all I wanted to say in this article.
Additional blocking options
Let’s take a quick look at the additional protection options offered in the current versions of the Android OS.
It is configured according to a simple instruction displayed on the smartphone screen and the screenshots attached by us, so we will not separately focus on this process.
Another method of unlocking, which, depending on the manufacturer and model of the device, may be the only alternative or addition to the previous one. To configure it, you also just need to follow the step-by-step tips.
“Smart Lock”. A useful feature that allows you to cancel the need to unlock the screen under certain conditions. There are three of them:
- “Physical contact”. The screen of the mobile device will not be locked while it is in contact with you.
Safe Places. If the device is located at the address previously specified in the settings (for example, at home or at work), it will remain unlocked.
“Reliable devices”. After adding trusted Bluetooth devices and / or accessories (for example, wireless headphones, smartwatches, fitness bracelets, etc.), the paired and nearby smartphone will not be blocked.
Thanks to the correct configuration of the scanner and the Smart Lock function, you can significantly simplify, speed up and automate the procedure for unlocking the screen on an Android mobile device.
Selecting and Configuring a Blocking Method
Screen lock is one of the most important security settings, providing basic, but in most cases quite effective protection for Android mobile devices. This function is activated according to the following algorithm:
- Open the “Settings” of the mobile OS and scroll a little down the list of available options.
In the “Device protection” block, tap on the “Screen lock”.
Select the desired blocking option. Let’s briefly consider each of them except for the first, since it means the absence of any protection:
- Swipe across screen. In this case, unlocking will be carried out by swiping up from the lower border, no additional configuration is required.

“PIN”. Similar to the previous protector, enter the desired value twice and save it.
“Password”. Unlike the previous one, it allows you to set a more complex combination, consisting not only of numbers, but also of letters and symbols.
Note: If you want to change one screen lock method to another, you will need to enter the current one before setting it up.
as well as how notifications will be displayed on the locked screen: completely, with hiding confidential data, or not at all. Select your preferred option and use the “Finish” button to confirm.
Once you complete these steps, the selected method will be used to unlock the screen of the Android device. swipe, pattern, pin or password.

In conclusion, we will consider additional screen lock options. the most reliable and effective method of protection, as well as two useful functions that make it somewhat easier to use the device as usual.
- Most modern smartphones are equipped with a fingerprint scanner, and some also have a face scanner. Both the first and the second are a much more reliable means of blocking, and at the same time a convenient option for removing it. Their configuration is carried out in the “Security” section and is carried out strictly according to the instructions, which depend on the type of scanner and will be shown on the screen.
In current versions of Android OS, there is a useful Smart Lock function, which, in fact, cancels the need to unlock the screen using one of the established methods. for example, when you are at home (or in any other pre-specified place) or when a wireless device is connected to the smartphone. headphones. column, watch, bracelet, etc. You can get acquainted with the peculiarities of work and configure it in all the same “Security” parameters.
Important! Unlocking by scanner and / or using the Smart Lock function can be enabled and configured only after one of the three locking methods is set on the mobile device. pattern, PIN or password.
How to set a PIN on an Android smartphone

How to set screen lock on Android
How to set screen lock on Android. On every smartphone, there will definitely be files that the user wants to safely save from prying eyes. These can be photographs, videos, personal notes, or email correspondence. If a smartphone or tablet falls into the wrong hands, it can cause serious trouble for its owner.
To secure your phone already at the first level of access, without delving into the protection of each application or an important system folder, you can lock the screen. For this, system settings are used, as well as special applications. In our article, we will look at how to set a screen lock on Android, as well as suggest several ways to customize it.
When trying to turn on the phone, the user may encounter such a problem as a broken Power button, without which it is impossible to even exit the lock screen. To solve this problem yourself, read the material How to turn on an Android phone without a power button.
With the help of Android settings, you can set a lock protected by:
- Graphic key
- PIN code
If you trust numbers more than drawings from dots, in the same security menu of your smartphone or tablet, the screen lock on Android is set using a four-digit PIN:
- Go to the settings to the blocking method
- Choose a PIN
- Dial four digits
- Enter the code again
In the case of numbers, there are fewer combinations than with a graphic set. 10,000 options. And yet, it will take a lot of time to sort out all the numerical combinations.
By default, the screen lock of a mobile gadget is removed using a slider. In terms of security, this method is absolutely unreliable, since anyone, simply by swiping across the screen, gains access to the contents of the device. The easiest way to securely lock the screen is to set a pattern, a sequence of connecting several points.
To set up a key, follow these steps:
- Enter Android Settings
- Select the item “Security”
- Click on the line “Screen lock”
- Click on the line “Pattern”
- Make a defensive combination on a 9-point field
- Enter the key again to confirm
- Choose the mode of displaying notifications on the lock screen
After that, you can additionally configure the display of the entered key. If you doubt the reliability of the graphical code, look at the number of dot combinations that will have to be sorted out by someone who decides to use your gadget:
- 4 points. 1624 combinations
- 5 points. 7152
- 6 points. 26016
- 7 points. 72912
- 8 points. 140704
- 9 points. 140704
In total, it turns out that the pattern contains 389112 different combinations of connecting dots. In order to enter all possible combinations, at the rate of 1 sequence of points per second, it will take almost 106 hours!
In terms of the number of possible combinations, the password should be attributed to the most reliable method. In the blocking methods, click on the “Password” line and enter consecutive characters. Password must be at least 4, maximum 17 characters. Considering the set using numbers, mathematical symbols, Cyrillic and Latin letters, the number of combinations exceeds several billion. The most important thing is not to forget the clever password for unlocking yourself.
OS version: Android 4.1 or later
Smart lock screen app SnapLock helps you set a pin or pattern on your smartphone or tablet.
In addition to the standard functionality, the program has a number of interesting features:
- AppRhythm function. The application monitors the frequency of launching programs. SnapLock displays shortcuts for the most frequently used applications on the lock screen
- Setting the direction of the swipe to a specific command
- Clock display. You can display a clock, date and weather widget on the lock screen in several font styles.
- Adding wallpaper to the lock screen
- Display all notifications on one screen.
The app does not contain ads. Perhaps its only drawback is the lack of Russification.
OS version: Android 4.1 or later
The opinions of users about the ZUI Locker screen lock are divided: some praise it for the convenient setting of smartphone protection, others admire the huge variety of thematic settings. The screen lock can be programmed for both a pattern and a password. And for a colorful design, the application contains several dozen beautiful wallpapers and themes.
Separately, I would like to note a pleasant design feature. when the smartphone is tilted, the picture set as wallpaper begins to smoothly shift.
