How to Increase Memory on Android Samsung
SD card as Android internal memory
If your phone or tablet on Android 6.0, 7 Nougat, 8.0 Oreo or 9.0 Pie has a slot for connecting a memory card, then you can use a microSD memory card as the internal memory of your device, this feature first appeared in Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
In this manual. about setting up an SD card as an internal Android memory and about what restrictions and features are there. The process is shown first for 7.0, then for the latest version of Android 9. Please note that some devices do not support this function, despite the required version of Android (Samsung Galaxy, LG, although there is a possible solution for them, which will be given in the material). See also: How to clear internal storage on Android phone or tablet.
Note: when using the memory card in this way, it cannot be used in other devices. i.e. remove and connect it via a card reader to a computer (more precisely, about Honor data) only after full formatting.
Features of the memory card as an internal memory of Android
It can be assumed that when an M memory card size is attached to the Android N internal memory, the total available internal memory should become equal to NM. over, approximately this is displayed in the information about the device storage, but in fact everything works a little differently:
- Everything that is possible (with the exception of some applications, system updates) will be placed on the internal memory located on the SD card, without giving a choice. But the internal memory continues to be engaged: not all data and not all applications can be placed on the SD card.
- When you connect your Android device to your computer, in this case, you will “see” and have access only to the internal memory on the card. The same goes for file managers on the device itself (see Best File Managers for Android).
As a result, after the moment when the SD memory card began to be used as internal memory, the user does not have access to the “real” internal memory, and if we assume that the device’s own internal memory was larger than the MicroSD memory, then the amount of available internal memory after of the described actions will not increase, but decrease.
Another important feature. when resetting the phone, even if you removed the memory card from it before resetting, as well as in some other scenarios, it is impossible to recover data from it, more about this: Is it possible to recover data from a formatted SD memory card like internal memory on Android.
Formatting a memory card for use as internal storage in ADB
For Android devices where the function is not available, for example, on Samsung Galaxy S7-S9, Galaxy Note, it is possible to format the SD card as internal memory using ADB Shell.
Since this method can potentially lead to problems with the phone (and it may not work on any device), I will skip the details of installing ADB, enabling USB debugging and running the command line in the adb folder (If you do not know how to do this, then. perhaps it is better not to take it. And if you do, then at your own peril and risk).
The necessary commands themselves will look like this (the memory card must be connected):
- adb shell
- sm list-disks (as a result of executing this command, pay attention to the issued disk identifier like disk: NNN, NN. it will be required in the next command)
- sm partition disk: NNN, NN private
After formatting is complete, exit the adb shell, and on the phone, in the storage options, open the “SD card” item, click on the menu button in the upper right and click “Transfer data” (this is mandatory, otherwise the phone’s internal memory will continue to be used). At the end of the transfer, the process can be considered complete.
Another possibility for such devices, if root access is available, is to use the Root Essentials application and enable Adoptable Storage in this application (a potentially dangerous operation, at your own risk, do not perform on older versions of Android).
Using an SD memory card as internal memory
Before proceeding with the setup, transfer all important data from your memory card somewhere: in the process it will be completely formatted.
Further actions will look as follows (instead of the first two items, you can click on “Configure” in the notification that a new SD card has been detected, if you have just installed it and such a notification is displayed):
- Go to Settings. Storage and USB drives and click on the “SD card” item (On some devices, the storage settings item can be found in the “Advanced” section, for example, on ZTE).
- In the menu (button on the top right) select “Configure”. If the menu contains the item “Internal memory”, immediately click on it and skip item 3.
- Click “Internal Memory”.
- Read the warning that all data on the card will be deleted before it can be used as internal memory, click “Erase and Format”.
- Wait for the end of the formatting process.
- If at the end of the process you see the message “SD card is running slowly”, this indicates that you are using a Class 4, 6 memory card, etc. really slow. It can be used as internal memory, but this will affect the speed of your Android phone or tablet (such memory cards can work up to 10 times slower than regular internal memory). It is recommended to use UHS Class 3 (U3) or at least U1 memory cards, about ordinary Class 10 cards your phone may report that they are not fast enough.
- After formatting, you will be prompted to transfer data to a new device, select “Transfer now” (the process is not considered complete until the transfer).
- Click Finish.
- It is recommended to restart your phone or tablet immediately after formatting the card as internal memory. press and hold the power button, then select the “Restart” item, and if there is no such item. “Turn off the power” or “Turn off”, and after turning off. turn the device back on.
This completes the process: if you go to the settings “Storage and USB drives”, you will see that the space occupied in the internal memory has decreased, on the memory card. increased, and the total amount of memory has also increased.
However, in the operation of the function of using the SD card as internal memory in Android 6 and 7, there are some peculiarities that may make the use of such a possibility impractical. about this the corresponding section of the manual.
How to format SD memory card as internal memory (example for Android 9.0)
On the latest version of Android, all the steps for converting a microSD memory card into an internal one are almost the same, but just in case, I will describe the steps separately and give screenshots (do not forget that all data from the memory card will be deleted in the process, take care of saving important files) :
- On your smartphone go to Settings. Storage. And then click on the item “SD card”.
- Click on the menu button in the upper right, select “Storage settings”, and on the next screen. “Internal memory”.
- Read carefully what will happen and, if you agree, confirm formatting the memory card as internal memory. Wait for the process to complete.
- To transfer data (those that can be transferred) from the internal memory to the SD memory card, open the menu in the storage options and select “Transfer data”.
This completes the procedure. All the features of operation and the way of returning the memory card to the mode of operation as a portable storage remain the same as for previous versions of Android.

How to restore normal operation of a memory card
If you decide to disconnect the memory card from the internal memory, it’s easy to do. transfer all important data from it to the computer, then go, as in the first method, to the SD card settings.
Then, in the menu of actions with the memory card, select the item “Portable media” and, following the instructions, format the memory card.

I combined the SD memory with the internal one, everything worked for 3 weeks. Today, when the camera starts, it says “insert the CD drive to start the camera.” What to do in this situation?
Can I enter the camera settings? If so, change the location of saving the photo to internal memory there.
If not, try clearing the cache and data of the Camera application (just in case, save the photo beforehand).
Hello, how to make a memory card internal storage on Android 8.8.1 ?
Huawei / Honor
on net 8 is exactly the same as shown. But I don’t know if the Huawei / Honor function is supported and, in theory, their interface and paths in the settings may differ somehow.
Please tell me why I can’t install applications, I combined the memory card with the phone’s memory as in the article, but the phone says that there is not enough memory when installing any application.
Combining does not particularly increase memory if you have a memory card that is the same in volume as the internal one (or less) and if the internal one is in fact crammed to capacity, there may be such errors. Well, some applications can only be installed in the “real” internal memory.
I have the 9th Android-J3 of 2017, when I go to the memory card, there is no internal memory item, and after formatting, the option of how to use the flash drive does not appear either (just the flash drive is ready to use), what to do.
Samsung does not have this function.
Hello! after formatting, the choice of the parameter how to use the USB flash drive does not appear
Formatted the card using ADB- and still not used as internal memory, and there is no button for internal memory, just remove and format! phone Samsung J3 2017.
I successfully combined the memory of the card and the phone, but something went wrong and now I have all the functions related to memory working by 8 percent. I don’t even understand what to do in this situation.
And what does it mean “work by 8 percent”?
Well, as a last resort, you can format it back as a portable drive.
Hello Dmitry, I have a big problem. After the next restart of the phone, the flash drive stopped reading. Explorer and storage settings immediately crash when opened. The card has been formatted as internal media. Redmi 4x phone on leanage OS
I understand the scope of the problem, but I have no working solution for this case. I myself would try to turn off the phone again, remove the memory card, install it again (without turning on the phone), making sure that everything is contacted, turn on the phone, crossing fingers.
Checking the amount of free memory on Android
When a notification about insufficient internal memory appears, the question arises: how much memory is available, how much of it is occupied?
You can check the free space through the settings of your mobile phone. To do this, go to Settings. Options. Memory (Settings. Device Maintenance. Storage. Storage settings. Device memory). We carefully study the data, paying attention to the following numbers:
- Total space. Android internal storage
- System memory. the minimum amount of space reserved for system operation
- Available space. how much space is left in the internal memory.
Accordingly, if the built-in memory is not enough, you need to increase the memory on the phone to the size of System memory so that the system does not give a corresponding error.
In the next chapters, I will show you how to clean internal memory on Android.
We use Storage Analyzers (for clarity)
For clarity, we recommend using the Files Go application or any other storage analyzer for Android, which will show which files take up the most disk space and where they are located in the form of a diagram. Among these applications, we note:
Clearing the internal phone memory
You can remove unnecessary things through the built-in tools of the operating system and through third-party applications. They analyze the occupied space, help identify files that can be safely deleted.
Moving unnecessary applications from internal to external memory card
You can transfer apps through the Android app manager. Convenience is that you free up internal memory without uninstalling unnecessary applications.
By transferring applications, you will save a couple of hundred megabytes of free space. Since the cache is also migrated along with the application, the savings are significant.
In general, starting with the Android Marshmallow version, everything has become easier. It is enough to format the memory card as internal storage through the settings. You don’t need to do anything else, Android OS will independently determine which applications to store on the memory card.
Advice. Install the application FolderMount. “expander” of the internal memory of the phone. It also works on Android 4.2.1 and higher, while its counterparts do not support multiplayer mode. The application requires root.
Transferring files to a memory card
The internal memory of the phone, as already mentioned, has a fixed volume, so you need to constantly check whether there is enough free space for the correct operation of applications and OS.
Generally, Android memory is divided into internal and external memory. External memory is easy to “build up”, since SD cards are inexpensive today (for 25 you can buy a 256 GB memory card).
We advise you to transfer photos and videos, documents and other large files that do not need to be stored in the internal memory to the memory card. over, it is safer to store them on a memory card.
Actually, you can transfer files through any file manager. via phone or PC.
Transferring photos and videos to the Google Photos service
It is photos and videos that “eat up” most of the space on the phone, due to them you can quickly free up space on a memory card or in the built-in storage. If your phone doesn‘t support a memory card, move the files you don’t often access to the cloud. Photos, or Google Photos, are best suited for this. It automatically uploads photos to the service, where they are available in their original quality through a browser or application.
In addition to Google Photos, you can pay attention to alternatives such as Dropbox, Flickr or Microsoft OneDrive.
Even when the photos are only available on the server, you can easily access them if you have an Internet connection. And most importantly, this is a really convenient and fast way to free up a couple of gigabytes of internal memory.!
Removing unnecessary files with Piriform CCleaner
CCleaner will help free up memory on Android (on a memory card), it will also clear the internal memory of temporary files, application cache, and find large files; will give advice on optimizing internal memory. The program is free, you can download it here.
New Secret Code to Increase INTERNAL STORAGE for any SAMSUNG Phone
As an alternative to CCleaner, it is convenient to use the aforementioned Files Go app.
Limit widgets and live wallpapers
Widgets and live wallpapers consume a lot of RAM. Some of them are frequently updated via the Internet, and some are constantly active. This results in faster battery drainage. Our advice to you is to limit their number in order to optimize your available free RAM.
Animated wallpapers can take up a lot of RAM space
Check the compatibility of your device
Before using the ROEHSOFT RAM Expander app, you should check your device for compatibility. Download the MemoryInfo Swapfile Check application. Run this application and give it superuser rights. Then click on the icon labeled “Start ramexpander test” at the bottom of the screen. Select the option you need. “SD card” or “Ext. SD card “. Then click on “Show result”. If “Congratulations” appears on the display, your device is compatible with RAM expander.
Use the MemoryInfo Swapfile Check application to find out if your device’s firmware is compatible
How to increase your RAM if you are rooted
In this part, we will talk about how to increase the amount of RAM if your device has root rights. The trick in this case is to create an additional partition on your SD card, which will then act as a secondary source of RAM. We will use the ROEHSOFT RAM Expander (SWAP) app to complete the required actions.
Here is a description of this application can be seen in the Play Store:
- Clearing SD card memory for use as RAM;
- The maximum size of the RAM SWAP file is up to 4 GB (system limit);
- No restrictions on the SWAP section;
- Paging performance degradation may not occur with Class 8 (or higher) SD cards;
- Widget for quick incl. and off. SWAP;
- Detailed information and memory analysis;
- Configuring swap kernel parameters;
- Simple use and 1-click optimization;
- Supports all rooted Android devices compatible with the SWAP kernel.
You will need a minimum grade 4 SD card, but use a higher grade card for best results.
How to increase the RAM of your Android smartphone
If you use your smartphone for a while, then it may start to work slower, and one of the reasons for this may be RAM (random access memory; the second name is RAM). If your phone does not have too much of this memory, then the phone may not perform well, but there are ways to fix this situation.
You can easily add additional RAM to your smartphone without opening the device and without resorting to a soldering iron.

How to increase RAM without root rights
Now that you know what RAM is, we’ll show you how to save it. In the first part, we’ll cover tips for non-rooted devices.
Note that for such devices, you will not be able to increase the amount of memory, but you have the opportunity to make better use of the available such memory. As a rule, the more operations your device performs, the more RAM it uses, so if you can remove unnecessary running processes and applications, you can free up more memory for the tasks you really need.
What is RAM?
RAM is what your device uses when doing something. For example, when you edit a photo, both the photo and the application with which you do the editing are in RAM, which is random access memory. When you have finished editing a photo, then it is saved in the internal storage of the device for a long time. The more RAM you have, the more actions your device can perform. For example, in this case, you can open more tabs in the browser, run more different applications or system functions.
The problem with RAM is that this kind of memory is not always cleaned up properly, and applications do not always work correctly. Some applications and system processes run even when you don’t need them, while others leave some information behind when they are closed. After a while, all this can lead to such bad moments as low system performance, various crashes and freezes.
Similar to the internal storage of information (Russian analogue. ROM), RAM is a physical component of your device, and you will not be able to add another one to your device. All you can do is use RAM more efficiently. And you can actually use some tricks to create additional RAM from other types of memory.
The RAM component presented in this photo in the desktop version is physically limited in every device. Unlike a PC, you won’t be able to add more memory to your phone or tablet.
Animated pictures often “steal” free RAM and, in fact, their use is not mandatory. Any user can manage them through the “Developer Tools” functionality. To enable “Developer Tools” on your device, you need to open “Settings”, then click on “About device”, then. on the build number (approximately 7 times) until the corresponding message appears on the display. We would like to note that these actions will not have any negative effect on your device. just an additional menu “Developer Tools” will appear in your settings.
In the “About device” section, click on the build number several times until the “Developer Tools” are activated. You can later access them in the settings menu
After you have completed the above steps, return to your phone’s settings and scroll down to Developer Tools. Next, go to the Drawing section and in it turn off the items “Window animation scale”, “Transition animation scale”, “Animation duration scale”.
Go to the Drawing section and turn off the animation settings
The first step is to “clean” the RAM from unnecessary running programs. To do this, we perform the following actions:
- Go to the device settings in “Applications”
In addition, you can use special “cleaners” programs that will automatically “unload” your gadget from unnecessary running processes and all sorts of garbage.
How to increase RAM on Android
In this article, we will tell you how to increase RAM on Android and get rid of the need to buy a new smartphone.
Increasing memory by means of SWAP
In order to seriously increase the RAM, you can create a special paging file using the usual internal memory of the device. However, this will require the installation of a special program, for example
ROOT rights are required. How to get them read here.
- Download, install and run the RAM Manager PRO application
- We provide the program with access to Root rights
We choose the profile that suits us the most. If the device slows down during games, activate the “Hard game mode”
If you need your smartphone to simply work more smoothly and without brakes, then select “Balanced”, etc.
After that, we proceed directly to creating the swap file. To do this, go to the “Advanced” tab and click “Swap File”.
We choose its size and location. The size depends on how much internal memory you can give in favor of RAM. However, it makes no sense to indicate too large. You can’t add 10 GB to RAM for sure. Therefore, add another 512 MB and press the Create button.
There are several other applications for creating a swap file, for example,
What is ROM and RAM
All gadgets based on Android OS have 2 types of memory: RAM and internal.
Random access memory is abbreviated as RAM, which means random access memory, or RAM. Random Access Memory. It is much faster than the internal one and contains data for current processes.
ROM, or ROM, which means Read Only Memory and read-only memory, respectively, is non-volatile internal memory. Used to store non-volatile data recorded during the manufacture of the device.
In turn, the ROM is divided into 2 more sections: the operating system and internal memory.
The OS partition is protected, and without root rights, nothing can be written to it.
But the internal memory (Internal Storage) is intended specifically for user information, including downloaded programs and their components from RAM.
Important! A sure signal about the need to free up space on the Android ROM is a device slowdown and / or a smartphone notification.
The first thing to do in this case is to determine the amount of free space. If we are talking about a smartphone, then you need to check the state of memory along the following route: select “Memory” through the instrumental settings in the options. Further, the following data will open before the user:
- total ROM size on Android;
- system memory. the minimum amount of space required for the system to work;
- amount of available space.
That is, for the gadget to work normally, the user must ensure that the ROM is always cleared to the size of the system.
For your information! than 80% of mobile devices sold worldwide in Q2 2019 have the Android operating system. In just 10 years of the existence of this operating system, more than 2 billion Android devices have been released.
Clearing memory manually
Any file manager is suitable for this method of ROM and RAM optimization. A great option is Total Commander.
Through it, you need to determine and delete unnecessary ones. It is recommended to dispose of from ROM:
- transferred to other media photos, video files, dictaphone recordings, etc.;
- uploaded documents;
- any files that were saved by third-party applications, etc.
Moving applications to an external memory card or USB flash drive
This is another option for cleaning ROM from applications. The use of this method is advisable if the further use of the transferred programs is implied.
Increasing the paging file on Android phones
As mentioned earlier, the free SWAPit Ram Expander app and the paid Roehsoft Ramexpander are used to create swap files. With their help, up to 2.5 GB can be added to the smartphone’s memory.
The main functionality of these programs includes:
- creating a swap file;
- the ability to regulate the operation of the operational system;
- creating a widget on the desktop.
Calculating the optimal amount of ROM
The average size of one photo on a smartphone is about 5 MB, that is, to store 200 photos, an average of 1 GB is required.
As for the video, for a 10-minute video in 4K quality you will need at least 5 GB of ROM. If you shoot in Full HD quality, then 1 GB will take 20 minutes. filming.
The weight of one music track is about the same as that of one image. 1 GB of memory will be used to store 200 songs.
With applications, everything is more extensive. So, 10-20 standard mobile applications can fit in a free 10 GB. However, 3D games have a lot more weight. And such lovers of mobile entertainment are advised to choose a smartphone with free memory of 20 GB or more.
Now, knowing the weight of the files of interest, you can roughly calculate the optimal volume for each.
Important! When calculating the optimal amount of ROM, you must take into account the fact that 5-10 GB is always occupied by the operating system. And about 20% of the memory should always remain free.
How to increase memory on Android: detailed information
Android is an OS from the Open Handset Alliance and Google. It is based on a modified Linux kernel and has been on the global high-tech market since 2008. Today, this operating system is called one of the most widespread. Android is used for almost any technology: from smartwatches and tablets to household robots.
But, despite the constant improvement of this operating system, many users of Android devices still face one problem. lack of memory. Therefore, the burning problem for many is how to increase memory on Android.
How to increase internal storage on Android
Built-in OS tools or specialized third-party applications that help optimize the device’s workflow will help you dispose of all unnecessary from your device. They analyze the occupied space and identify useless files and programs, such as duplicate photos, unused applications, unnecessary cache, etc.
But in view of the fact that smartphone users are most often faced with the problem of an insufficient amount of Android ROM, a completely logical question arises whether it is possible to increase the memory on an Android phone. The answer is yes. And any of the methods below is fine for this.
The second way to increase system memory on an Android smartphone. transfer to a memory card
The first step may be inappropriate for many Android users who value the convenience of copying files to and from a microSD card.
For them, it is possible to transfer the application to a memory card. After entering Settings / Applications, select the program or game you want to transfer to your SD card.
Then press “Memory” and change from internal to external. After a while, the application will be moved.
By choosing this method, you save the ability to freely copy files to the SD card.
It is important to note that applications transferred to external storage will stop working after removing the SD card, so pay attention to which one you choose to unload from internal storage.
The fourth method how to increase the memory of your Android device. get rid of unnecessary and unused applications
Two months ago, you had to read a QR code to get a discount on new shoes? Maybe you don’t need a QR code scanner anymore?
Do you have two note-taking apps? Maybe one is enough? It’s worth taking a look at the content of your own smartphone from time to time.
Based on the list of apps, you might surprise yourself how many of them you don’t use at all.
[info] Don’t believe me? Go to the Play Store, select “My Apps”, then “Installed” and sort them by the last time they were used. [/ Info]
How many of them did you use more than a month ago? You might want to download these apps again when you really need them.
Method 8 memory size in Android phone. take low quality pictures
When very high resolution of your photos is not a priority, you should consider reducing the quality in favor of the space it occupies.
A 5120 x 3840 photo can weigh up to 8 MB, while a good 3264 x 2448 one is only about 2-3 MB. Even quadruples space savings at the expense of quality.
Smaller photos are easier and faster to upload to the cloud, archived ones take up less space and take up valuable phone storage more slowly.
This setting can always be reverted back to the highest quality. for example on holidays.
The fifth way to increase the memory size of your Android phone. clear the cache of other applications
Apps grow in size through a cache that is designed to have the most used information at your fingertips.
You can safely clear your cache from time to time without losing any data. When I used the Honor 7 smartphone, after a week the cache of all applications could take up about a gigabyte.
It is best to clean it with a suitable tool in all applications at the same time. Popular Huawei smartphones call this tool the memory manager and you can find it in Settings / Memory / Clean up memory.
In most other brands of devices, similar options are also available at the settings level. In other cases, you can look for options to free up memory in the settings.
If you decide to delete the cache manually (for each application separately, which is done using the Settings / Applications menu), you will quickly notice that the problem mainly concerns several applications with a genetic tendency to gain weight.
If for various reasons you do not want to clean the cache yourself, you can use an application that will do it for you. It’s worth using the very powerful File Go app for that.
Seventh way to increase system memory of Android device. transfer photos to cloud
If automatic saving to a memory card is not possible, because there is no memory card, there is always a cloud.
This is outside the computer, of course. Even when traveling, you can send a few or a dozen photos to the cloud and thus get space for more photos.
- OneDrive and Dropbox are pretty good photo sync solutions, but the Google Photos app is the best option.
It has the ability to free up space on your device by deleting photos from your phone that have already been archived on Google servers.
Only when choosing this solution, it is important to remember that in the application settings on the “Backup and synchronization” tab, you need to select the size of the transferred images.
Google provides unlimited space, but for low quality photos.
People who want to save high quality photos should definitely change the default setting to “Original Size” (though Google will then limit the available space).
In short: good quality and limited space or limited quality and unlimited space.
8 Proven Ways To Boost System Memory On An Android Smartphone
Do you have an Android phone, low memory and naturally want to increase it yourself? You are not the only one who no longer has space for photos or music, and apps and games run slower.
Yes, buying a new phone with a lot of gigabytes seems like the easiest way out, but not everyone can afford it.
If you bought one of the budget Android smartphones, such as from Samsung Galaxy: Samsung j2, Samsung j1, Samsung j3, or another inexpensive n1, Lenovo, bq, tele2 mini, LG spirit, hit, lumiya, zte with a small amount of memory for data (and this is not surprising, since these models are very popular. mainly due to attractive prices), you will probably soon complain about the lack of space for photos, applications and notice a slower device than at the time of purchase.
How can you increase the internal memory? I recommend you 8 steps that will free up space, thereby increasing memory for the most comfortable use of your smartphone, especially since even purchasing a premium phone does not guarantee that there will be no problems with a place to save data.
The most common method, for obvious reasons, is intended for owners of smartphones with a microSD slot.
This means that even if you have an expensive phone like the Samsung Galaxy S6 with a whopping 32 GB onboard, the lack of a microSD slot will not allow you to expand (expand) the memory.
The same goes for the hybrid dual SIM slot, where you can insert two SIM cards or a SIM card and a microSD card (Samsung loves this configuration very much).
[info] Then if you choose the option with two SIM cards, you should forget about expanding the memory, although there is a way out. I described it here. [/ info]
Other users, if they can insert a memory card into their phone, should do so, because the first three methods are only for them. If you do not have a microSD slot, go directly to section 4.
The sixth way to increase the internal memory of an Android smartphone. make the folders clean
Once I accidentally looked into the Documents folder and found a PDF file that weighed 200 megabytes, which I downloaded a few months ago and forgot about it.
A quick analysis of multiple folders can free tens of megabytes, and in extreme cases even more than a gigabyte.
What folders should I look at? Documents, downloads, music, photos, movies, podcasts.
Photo of a city visited on holidays, PDF with a minor report that has lost its meaning, rarely listened to music, a film with a cat. Well, you know what I mean. Don’t be afraid to delete it.
How to increase RAM size on Android
Users familiar with computers probably thought about physically increasing the RAM. to disassemble the smartphone and install a larger chip. Alas, this is technically difficult to do. However, you can get out with software.
Android is a variant of the Unix system, therefore, it has the function of creating Swap-partitions. an analogue of swap files in Windows. Most Android devices do not have the means to manipulate the swap partition, however there are third-party applications that allow it.
To manipulate Swap files, the device must be rooted and its kernel must support this option! You may also need to install the BusyBox framework!
One of the first applications with which users can create and modify swap partitions.
- Before installing the application, make sure that your device meets the requirements of the program. The easiest way to do this is with the simple MemoryInfo Swapfile Check utility.
Run the utility. If you see data as in the screenshot below, it means that your device does not support Swap creation.
Otherwise, you can continue.
Launch PAM Expander. The application window looks like this.
The marked 3 sliders (“Swap file”, “Swapiness” and “MinFreeKb”) are responsible for manual configuration of the swap section and multitasking. Unfortunately, they do not work adequately on all devices, so we recommend using the automatic configuration described below.
The PAM Expander is a good choice for improving device performance, but it still has its drawbacks. In addition to the need for root and the additional manipulations associated with it, the application is completely and completely paid. no trial versions.
Increasing the RAM of an Android device
A combo tool that combines not only the ability to manipulate Swap files, but also an advanced task manager and memory manager.
- After launching the application, open the main menu by clicking on the button at the top left.
In this tab we need the item “Swap file”.
After all the settings, do not forget to use the “Autostart at device startup” switch.
RAM Manager has fewer features than RAM Expander, but the advantage of the former is the free version. However, it contains annoying ads and some of the settings are inaccessible.
Concluding for today, we note that there are other applications in the Play Store that offer the possibility of expanding RAM, but most of them are inoperable or are viruses.
