Why tablets start to slow down
Any tablet user, regardless of its model, sooner or later comes across the fact that many applications work slower, like the entire device as a whole.
Even the top-end Samsung Galaxy is not protected from this. But why does performance deteriorate, and is this normal? From the very first day of using an Android tablet, we unintentionally litter it. Download applications, games, take photos and videos.
And this is normal, because the technique is needed for this. But over time, the software and file garbage becomes more and more. A great example of this is everything that WhatsApp sends us.
Even if you delete pictures and videos from the Gallery, there are still voice messages, history and other data that are saved on the tablet. And there is a lot of such garbage from almost any, sometimes even long-deleted, program.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5110 Factory Reset
I bring to your attention my recipe for reviving an old, braking tablet and bringing its software up to date.
It was the turn of the garage cleaning, where I found the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 “P3110 (without a SIM card slot). For fun I turned it on, he blinked the screen and loaded Android 4.1.
It’s great, I thought, a reliable piece of hardware if, after a couple of years in an unheated room, it started up and loaded. Perhaps I’ll take it under my book. Actually, this is how I got the opportunity to re-read the content of the page several times, while the text scrolls to the next, and watch my favorite TV shows step by step.
OS Android 4.1 Dimensions 194x122x11 mm Weight 344 g Capacitive sensor, multitouch Display 7 inch Wi-Fi Wi-Fi 802.11n, WI-FI Direct, DLNA Bluetooth Bluetooth 3.0 HS GPS with A-GPS GLONASS support CPU TI OMAP4430 (ARM32bit) Frequency 1000 MHz Core 2 GPU PowerVR SGX540 Memory 8 GB RAM 1 GB
Firstly, with the latest firmware, a bunch of services arrived, namely “update”, “debugging” and “from the manufacturer”, which cannot be disabled, but if you stop them, the performance increases significantly.
Secondly, an outdated version, when trying to deliver 50% of the software from the Play Market, informed me that “the software may not be optimized for your OS version”.
After examining the search results, and stumbling upon the mention of the custom firmware Lineage-OS, it was decided to mock the device, since there is still no practical use.
The firmware process is described in a myriad of manuals, but still finding the way took time, publishing my recipe. UPD: Official site lineage-OSFrom here we take custom firmware, an alternative TWRP bootloader, USB cable, Samsung USB drivers (for flooding TWRP firmware), ODIN software of the latest version, Open Gapps. Play Market for the selected version of Android, MicroSD card for 8GB, stationary Windows 10 computer.
deploy Odin from the archive (does not require installation) to disk, install Samsung USB drivers.
2.1. Downloading TWRP. As it turned out, ODIN sews from a special tar or tar.md5 format. And on the TWRP website there is an img file with a fresh bootloader. Android from the 7th version changed the format of the boot image, the bootloader 2.8 does not accept this format. Therefore, paragraph 2.2
2.2. Download the utility for creating a tar file that will accept ODIN. Rename the downloaded TWRP file to “recovery.img” and drop it into the “parts” directory of the utility. We launch the BAT file and after a couple of seconds we take the twrp-3.1-p3110.tar file from the “packaged” directory, having previously answered the question of what we are doing (point 1. the tar file) and the “Y” button.
Downloading Gapps, in my case the processor type is ARM, OS 7.1, piko Gapps (the minimum set for the Play Market to function)
Fill on MicroSD OS, Gapps. We insert into the tablet.
With the tablet turned off, press and hold the power button and the volume down button. We get to the bootloader firmware menu and press “Confirm”. the sound increase button. the screen drivers are not loaded in the bootloader firmware mode.
We connect the tablet and the computer with a cable, a certain Com port should appear in ODIN (in my case, COM6). Select the “AP” item and specify the TWRP firmware file (twrp-3.1-p3110.tar) in it. Reboot the tablet as ODIN completes the firmware.
Hold the power button and add sound until the screen turns off and the tablet model appears again. Next, the TWRP bootloader window will open.
You need to do three things: make a backup of the current firmware for rollback, clear the boot, cashe and data sections, fill in the OS and Gapps.
We backup the partitions, check the System, Cache, Data, Boot box (Internal Storage can also be specified if you have previously saved important data from there. this is the internal memory of the tablet). Swipe to perform backup, we are waiting.
Gently erase (Wipe) using the Advanced Wipe section. checkboxes opposite System, Cache, Data and swipe.
Let’s start installing the OS: Install, select the lineage-OS archive, add the gapps archive button. execute.
When finished, select Reboot. At this stage, I do not recommend experimenting with the bootloader’s suggestion to install Super SU. my OS did not take off, click Do Not Install.
From errors: There is not enough RAM to install the OS and Gapps. we select a smaller Gapps archive. The OS boots (the logo looks like a very sad smile) and nothing happens. remove the microSD and try to boot again OS does not have a Play Market. the wrong version of Gapps I still do not work in landscape mode for the desktop, although applications are launched in landscape I am looking for a solution, maybe it will be in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев.
P.S.: I apologize for the quality of the photo, it didn’t work out better.
UPD2: You don’t have to install Gapps, there will be no Google services, Play Market. I am very lazy to keep track of the updates of the applications I use, I put. I noticed that without Gapps, the tablet is much faster. If I used this device as a multimedia device in a car or a TV set-top box, I probably would not install Gapps. Or organize parental control over apps for kids. completely manual installation of dad-approved apps (and mom).
Fourth Way to Free Up Memory on Samsung Galaxy. Backing Up
To protect yourself from running out of space for new data on your Samsung smartphone, it is also recommended to back up the data regularly and delete the data stored on the device.
Applications offered by our device manufacturers may primarily be used to transfer information to a computer.
For Samsung smartphones, this is the Samsung Kies program. There are also one-stop solutions like Apowersoft Phone Manager or SHAREit that will let you transfer files wirelessly if your computer and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network.
You can easily back up your files when you are away from home and away from your computer thanks to the USB-OTG function.
All you need is the right flash drive, which is equipped with an additional micro-USB or USB Type-C connector, thanks to which you connect your device to your smartphone and then to your computer.
The portable memory connected in this way will be visible on the Android Samsung phone as an additional external storage, and you can transfer data using any file manager.
When purchasing this type of memory, you should proceed in exactly the same way as when buying a classic flash drive, and consider both the capacity and the transfer rate.
You should only pay attention to the type of connector: if you have a modern Samsung smartphone and computer, you may find that you need a classic USB Type C, for example, SanDisk Ultra USB-C 32 GB.
When searching, pay attention to whether you need a micro-USB model such as Samsung OTG 32 GB or USB-C offers, as is the case with the Kingston MicroDuo 3C 32 GB.
When deciding on such a purchase, it should be borne in mind that not all phones can work with external portable drives.
While the theoretical USB-OTG support can be verified by the app, there are times when the information displayed is not true, so I recommend that you look up the manufacturer’s website for details regarding your specific device model.
The second way to free up memory on Samsung Galaxy is to uninstall unused apps
In new Samsung smartphones, proprietary applications can also free memory from unnecessary files.
The elements that take up the most space on a smartphone are, of course, applications, in particular large games.
To recover some of the memory, the simplest solution would be to delete those programs that are not currently needed.
However, this is not a very convenient solution, but you can use half measures and achieve interesting results.
First of all, you may want to consider uninstalling selected components of larger applications.
Watch faces are a great example here if we are users of Android Wear smartwatches.
The application itself weighs a little, but additionally downloadable watch faces range from several to hundreds of megabytes.
Also check the settings of the navigation application. maybe you do not need a map of all of Europe, which was needed on a previous vacation and can always be installed if necessary?
The second way is to use the Lite app. Lightweight alternatives were created in a major way to improve the user experience on less efficient devices, but in practice there are more benefits: lower memory requirements as well as power gains come with lower requirements.
By installing the lite version. you should expect more meager graphics and UI animations than the full version
You should also consider the possibility of transferring the application (or at least part of their files) to an external memory card.
Although this process can take a long time, further use of the program is likely to be somewhat less effective, but it is an effective method when we want to free up space on the built-in internal memory of the smartphone.
Proven Ways To Free Up Internal Memory Space On Your Samsung Smartphone
If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy j1, j2 (prime) or j3 phone, sooner or later you will encounter a lack of sufficient space in the smartphone’s memory.
The situation with Samsung j5 is a little better, although even if you have a3 (2016) or Samsung a5, you may also need to free up the internal memory on this smartphone.
However, even with 128 GB of internal memory for data, at the least expected moment. when shooting on vacation or when trying to install another application, you can fail.
Therefore, I decided to collect in one place 5 tips that will help you quickly free up extra space on your Samsung Galaxy duos smartphone or another.
This will allow you to soon continue to use your phone as usual.
One more important thing. Besides freeing up the internal storage of your phone, you can simply increase it. It’s free and not long, but in order not to repeat yourself, just go here. there you will find the instructions that I wrote earlier.
The first way to free up internal storage space on Samsung Galaxy is to clear cache and junk files
The first thing you should do in a hurry to free up space on your internal storage is to clear the app cache and delete unneeded files. even the contents of the Download folder, which often contains documents, photos or APK files that you no longer need.
You can get into this folder from any file manager, if there is no built-in one (in Samsung phones, this is an icon in the form of a folder labeled “My files”).
Clearing the application cache. this can be a task, for example, for the CCleaner program, but it can also be cleared manually.
To do this, applications must be found in the settings, the most space-consuming programs are selected in them and their cache memory is deleted (or all data, which, however, will also delete user data).
Third way to free up internal storage on Samsung Galaxy. sync photos in the cloud
If cleaning up unnecessary files does not bring a satisfactory result, it is worth considering what other data takes up the same amount of space on your smartphone.
Very often these are photographs taken. To free up space (and, by the way, to get more convenient access and independence from any malfunctions of the phone), in many popular applications for working with Internet drives, you can use automatic backup of photos in the cloud.
Using Google Drive can even count on unlimited space for this type of backup, if you give up the original image quality and be content with good.
Competitive OneDrive does not offer this option. Regardless of the selected tool, after such a copy of the photos, you can delete them from the device, getting additional memory.
In any case, you can get comfortable with the previous photos, often also directly from the phone gallery, if you synchronize them with network drives in the settings.
th Way to Free Up Storage Space on Samsung Galaxy. Extreme Solution
Another way to free up memory and speed up your Samsung phone is to return to factory settings.
Before doing this, make a backup, because you will lose all files. this is what I strongly advise you to do.
Then find the item “Backup” in the settings. “Factory settings”. “Reset”. You can do it in another way, for example, using the buttons.
To do this, you need to use a certain combination, but not for every Samsung phone model. Therefore, I will omit this now, but resetting will most effectively free up memory. Success.

Thank you, “Turning onLoop_Up” helped. Only pressed three buttons at once out of habit)

Samsung Galaxy Tab2 teardown
The back cover is secured with multiple latches. Their location is shown in the photo.
It is best to use a plastic tool, a guitar pick, or even a credit card to release the latches. We start the procedure from the side of the tablet power button and move along the arrows as in the photo.
As soon as the cover has given way, you can continue to work without tools. The strength of human fingers is usually enough for Samsung tablet latches.
We remove the back cover of our tablet, releasing the last latches.
Sort the screws
Now it remains to unscrew 16 screws with a small Phillips screwdriver. The cogs are circled in red in the photo.
To remove the battery. it is necessary to disconnect it from the board. Generally speaking, it is better to do this from the very beginning, because metal cogs like to fall directly onto the board and burn electronics.
Now we remove the speakers by carefully disconnecting their cables first, also with a plastic spatula.
Next, you need to disconnect the cables of the video camera, display, volume buttons, headphone jack, etc. In general, carefully disconnect all cables visible from this angle from the main board.
The board itself must be removed by freeing it from the slots in the bottom of the tablet.
How to clear the built-in memory
The built-in memory can be cleared by either deleting unnecessary programs or by transferring them to a memory card. These actions can be performed both by system tools and by third-party programs. System tools are located under Settings. Application Management. Program Specific. In this menu, you can select “transfer to SD card” and part of the occupied system memory will be freed.
The same actions can be achieved with great convenience and effect through programs such as the same Clean Master, AppMgr III (transferring programs to SD) or Root App Delete (completely destroying unnecessary applications or “freezing” them). For the latter, however, Root access is required, but it also works very efficiently. A particularly useful feature of this application is “freezing”. It allows you to stop the process without deleting it and, if the system is working normally, safely delete it.
Samsung Galaxy Tab2 P3100 teardown
If you do not know what Samsung Galaxy Tab2 (P3100) disassembly is, then read this manual. it will help you. Samsung Galaxy Tab2 disassembly may be necessary if the tablet won’t turn on or charge. The battery is most likely defective. In this case, you need to replace it or charge it manually.
Damage to the matrix or touchscreen of this tablet most likely does not threaten you, because they are protected by Gorilla Glass. Also, inside this tablet there are many components that are connected by loops, so the Galaxy Tab2 can get buggy and junk due to broken contacts. So let’s get started.
