Fingerprint scanner

A small fingerprint sensor flaunts to the right of the touchpad, right below the arrow key. It works almost lightning fast: after the finger is on the surface of the scanner, the laptop is activated after a maximum of 1-2 seconds. I did not notice any incorrect operation or reading errors. You can add and configure fingerprinting in the “accounts” menu. there you will need to go to the “login parameters” section.

The only drawback: the inconvenience of using the scanner in tablet mode.

When the Yoga 530 is not fully folded on a table, it’s still okay. But when you use it as a tablet and hold it in your hands, it is generally inconvenient to grope the scanner square on the back side. again, due to the dimensions of the case.

Speakers and sound

There is nothing outstanding in the work of the speakers.

As I said, the audio from Harman is installed here. And in general, the external sound is not bad, but it seems somehow flat and slightly dirty. Perhaps the distortion is partly due to the poor positioning of the speakers, which I mentioned above. However, their very quality leaves much to be desired: the sound is not the purest, plus there is not enough low end.

When watching movies in a standard player, constant wheezing and interference are heard (a third-party player such as Ace or KMP removes this problem).

As for the headphones, the situation here is much better. both with music and with films. The sound becomes spacious and clear. So, in my opinion, the priority option in the case of the Yoga 530 is the use of headphones, and the services of speakers should be used less often.

The main problem with the ultrabook family is that the emphasis in such devices is more on “mobility”. The ability to use the Yoga 530 most comfortably outside the home, as well as the presence of chips such as a fingerprint scanner or a touch screen, significantly increases its cost. But at the same time, we get not the best hardware: with the same discrete video card, which, in my opinion, is not enough for a laptop, the price tag would have increased by at least a third.

But anyway, the Yoga 530 is fast, efficient and can handle a lot of tasks. And, despite the obvious lack of power (Photoshop refuses to work at full capacity, and about applications that are more powerful, such as 3D editors, I generally keep quiet). for a piece. Secondly, Lenovo is a brand after all, and its logo on the case also adds part to the cost. Well, it still symbolizes quality.

So I will not categorically declare that the price of Lenovo Yoga 530 is unreasonably high. In addition, our ultrabook has many advantages that make it very comfortable and convenient to use. Let’s remember them:

Of course, playing heavy games at maximum speed on the Yoga 530, alas, will not work. But for these purposes, there are gaming laptops, without touch screens and stylus. they cost about the same, because the price hit is taken by a powerful video card. But it also fundamentally lowers, for example, the same autonomy. And our today’s hero perfectly holds a charge, while offering ample opportunities for various work and creative activities.

Buy Lenovo Yoga 530 in my configuration is offered for 71,990 rubles on the official website of the manufacturer. The cost of other models in the same place, with hardware from AMD or Intel, starts from 45 thousand.

Lenovo Active Pen

My Yoga 530 came with a first generation Active Pen. The difference with the second generation is in color (I have black, the second generation is gray) and the fact that Pen 2 can be charged from a USB cable, and the first “active pen” works only on an AAAA battery. I was even slightly surprised when I discovered. Battery-powered stylus is fun.

There are two buttons on the body of the pen. For them, you can configure various actions: opening any applications, flipping through photos / slides / music and so on. You can even assign any keyboard shortcut. The screenshot with the settings, by the way, shows the Active Pen 2.

Lenovo even provided a way to attach the handle to a laptop. using a retaining ring that is inserted into the USB port. True, there is a minus in this: since there are only two USB-connectors, there is a reluctance to occupy one of them with a stylus. Well, at least he would be charged from the holder, but so. in general, a useless loss of the connector turns out.
