Which is better: turn it off or put it to sleep?
It would seem that the answer is obvious. turn it off, of course. After all, what could be simpler and more effective?!
But not everything is so simple. Knowledgeable people say that the less often you turn on / off the equipment, the longer it will last. That is, in their opinion, it is better for the computer to work without stopping at all.
The explanation for this is as follows: when the PC is turned on, some of its internal parts heats up and because of this expand, and when turned off, they cool and shrink. If you do this often, then the parts will wear out faster. And the computer can simply fail due to surges in electric current.
So what happens, it is better not to turn it off at all ?! Also controversial. As you know, surges of electric current are not beneficial to any technique. And if there are interruptions with electricity, then it is better to completely disconnect the computer (including from the network) when it has been idle for a long time.
But if everything is in order with the power grid, or even better there is a special device (UPS, voltage stabilizer), then you can not turn off the PC at all. Simply put it to sleep at night or when idle.
But somehow this is unusual and seems wrong. Although the refrigerator, for example, works without interruption. and nothing. And mobile phones too.
As for the savings, in comparison with the refrigerator, the computer in sleep mode “eats” much less. But despite this, many users do not risk leaving the PC turned on for a long time, albeit in sleep mode.
Therefore, here everyone decides for himself. Personally, I almost never turn off my computer during the working day. If I need to go somewhere, I put it into sleep mode. Although I turn it off at night and for a long trip.
