What screens are on iPhones

On which iPhones screen burnout is possible?

Screen burn-in is most susceptible to iPhones with OLED displays. iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

What is screen burn-in?

If you’ve used plasma TVs in the past, you’re probably familiar with the burn-in effect. But even if this is your first time with such a concept, it is worth knowing that the modern iPhone can also suffer from this phenomenon.

In essence, burnout is the display of a faint or ghostly remnant of an image or element, such as a user interface, on the display. This is usually due to the presence of a permanent stationary object in one place on the display, for example, an image of the iOS home screen. This means that with frequent display of a static image, it is possible to burn the screen.

screens, iphones

While OLEDs are not as serious as plasma TVs, phone screens are also prone to burnout. Most experts even believe that the very technology of creating displays makes them practically inevitable. OLED technology outperforms LCD in terms of color reproduction and energy efficiency, but it has its “sore spot”. the sensitivity of matrices to contrasting images.

The effect is cumulative. There is no way to “reset” the image. If you frequently use an application with fixed elements, your device screen may burn.

Sadly, this screen behavior is not considered a warranty case. The manufacturer considers this to be normal wear and tear. In other words, don’t expect Apple to repair or replace the device free of charge if burn marks appear on the screen. The defect can be completely eliminated only by replacing the display.

Manufacturers are grappling with the problem?

Almost all device manufacturers use one or another method to combat burning of OLED displays. One such tactic used on your iPhone, even if you don’t even notice it, is pixel shift.

Basically, when your iPhone detects a long-term presence on the screen of a static image that you are not looking at, it will slightly shift the entire image by a few pixels. It’s not perfect protection against burnout, but it really helps.

Apple claims that its Super Retina and Super Retina XDR OLED displays minimize burn-in effects using special algorithms. They track pixel usage and prepare display calibration information. This allows the device to automatically adjust the brightness of each pixel, leaving the picture uniform and minimizing the burn-in effect.

After-image (afterglow) and burn-in

It should be noted right away that burn-in is not an afterimage. At first glance, these concepts are similar, but they have a different essence. The key difference is that burn-through is a permanent phenomenon that cannot be eliminated. The afterimage, although it looks similar in appearance, will disappear over time, for example after restarting the iPhone.

IPhone screen burnout: what it is, what iPhones can it be and how to protect yourself

Despite the apparent advances in technology, screen burn-in and burn-in are not at all a phenomenon of the past. In fact, even new iPhone owners can face the same problems.

Fortunately, there are a number of steps you can take to avoid screen burn / burn-in. In this article, we will talk about how you can avoid such a problem when using your smartphone on a daily basis.

Tips to Avoid Screen Burn

As we mentioned earlier, screen burnout occurs when the application is constantly showing static logos, content, or user interface elements. While Apple has some mitigation tactics, it won’t protect against burnout unless you follow these steps.

  • Avoid static content. Unless you have a reason to leave a static picture on the display for an extended period of time, it is best to avoid it. This does not apply to video, unless there is a static or stationary object in it. It is especially critical to do this with pictures with bright backgrounds.
  • Use CarPlay instead of navigation apps. Navigation apps are notorious for their screen-burning effect, mainly because people use them frequently and consistently. If you can, use CarPlay or your car’s built-in entertainment system instead.
  • Turn on Auto Lock and Auto Brightness. You can set automatic locking by going to Settings → Display and brightness → Auto-lock (details). The shorter the specified interval, the better. Display brightness can be set manually in the same settings menu or in Settings → Accessibility → Display and text size → Auto brightness.
  • Decrease brightness. Sometimes, avoiding static content on your iPhone fails. But you can at least reduce screen burn-in by lowering the brightness. Set this option manually using the Control Center.
  • Turn on True Tone. If your device has a True Tone display, leave it on (detail). There is a possibility that this will help mitigate the problem over time, as blue subpixels are the main source of the problem.

If you notice that some elements of the user interface have appeared on your display and want to know what caused this, then you can use the Screen Time feature. This will allow you to see which apps you use the most.

Types of metal detectors

In order to choose the right equipment, it is necessary, first of all, to determine what types of metal detectors are in terms of their purpose.

The following classes of metal detectors are distinguished:

This group of devices is widely used by specialists and amateurs to carry out work in the field of archeology. Such metal detectors are used to detect small metal objects such as coins, household items, artifacts, and so on. A feature of such equipment is that it is able to determine the type of metal.

Underwater detectors are used to search for coins and artifacts at depths. Such devices are commonly used by treasure hunters.

Unlike the previous ones, the deep ones are able to recognize large enough objects. They consist of large rectangular frames (sometimes such metal detectors are also called frame). They differ from underwater and groundwater not only in appearance, but also in the principle of operation.

Such equipment is capable of detecting metals at greater depths than other devices. But they also have one important drawback. they are not able to determine the type of material.

Used to detect precious metals. On the one hand, reconnaissance can also be carried out using a conventional inexpensive device. But only if this activity is nothing more than a hobby. For professionals, special equipment has been developed that allows prospecting at maximum depth and finding even small pieces of precious metal.

Industrial metal detectors are used in various industries. Such devices are often installed on conveyors. Their main task is to determine the presence of metal, for example, in a wooden board. This need may be due to the presence of equipment that can fail if solid objects hit.

There are also military metal detectors, which are used by engineers to detect and deactivate mines. Medium soil devices are perfect for these purposes. The main characteristics when choosing such equipment are ease of use, battery life, and reliability.

How metal detectors work

Devices of this type have a different principle of operation, depending on the final purpose of operation.

Before we go directly to the description of each of them, we will highlight the main types of metal detectors based on their design features:

The operation of magnetometers is based on the detection of small anomalies of the earth’s magnetic field. These devices are practically of no value to those looking for treasure, since they are not able to detect metal objects underground.

Detuning devices and metal detectors with a dependent generator

As for metal detectors with a dependent generator, as well as devices operating on the basis of detuning, they are characterized by low sensitivity. Their principle of operation is the effect of iron objects on the search coil, which is determined by fluctuations in the inductance.

Devices that operate on the basis of induction

They are designed for a large audience and are in high demand. Devices of this type are equipped with two coils. One of them creates an alternating magnetic field. As for the second coil, there is no electrical signal at the output. As a result, when approaching the metal, the configuration of the magnetic field in the coils changes and a signal appears. In modern equipment of this type, there are also additional options that allow the operator to transmit information about how deep the find lies, what is the relative conductivity of the metal, and so on.

Pulse induction devices

Impulsive devices have a number of significant advantages. In particular, they are the most sensitive of all devices of this type. Also, these metal detectors have a fairly simple design and are practically insensitive to the earth’s magnetic field. However, such devices also have their drawbacks. These include, for example, the need for a high-power battery. They, in turn, are very sensitive to small metal objects. Therefore, in the 90s of the last century, discriminators began to be used.

The best metal detector manufacturers. which company to choose

Today, there are five brands that can be whitewashed, which are truly the best in the field of making devices of this type:

All of these manufacturers offer a wide range of devices with high build quality and reliability. Naturally, they do an excellent job with all the tasks assigned to them. It is worth choosing a metal detector from a particular manufacturer according to some criteria, among which the most important is the purpose of the device.

Today, there are many metal detectors on the domestic market from different manufacturers, which, to some extent, complicates the selection process. However, if you clearly understand what characteristics are required, choosing the right device is much easier. In this article, we talk about the types of metal detectors, describe their principle of operation, highlight the main criteria by which the selection is made, and also give several main brands represented in this industry.

Such equipment can often be found in public places. Stationary ones are installed in the form of frames or turnstiles. Such metal detectors can be found, for example, at the airport or at the entrance to public events.

What to look for when choosing a metal detector

One of the first metrics that amateurs pay attention to is search depth. Every user of such equipment wants his device to be able to “see” metals equally well at different depths. But, unfortunately, from a technical point of view, this is currently impossible.

Therefore, before purchasing such equipment, it is necessary to determine at what depths the searches will be conducted and to acquire devices based on these considerations. It is also important to understand here that almost no manufacturer indicates the exact numbers of the detection depth, since this parameter is directly dependent on many factors, including the size of the target.

In addition, the degree of mineralization of the earth can also affect such a parameter as the depth of detection. It is quite logical that the higher this indicator, the shallower the detection depth.

An important parameter of a metal detector is the possibility of target discrimination, that is, the ability of the device to distinguish between different targets by the type of material. This indicator affects the cost. The higher the discrimination ability of the device, the more it will cost.

When choosing a device, you should pay attention to the presence of a pinpoint function, which allows you to identify the exact location of an object in the ground. Absent only in the most budget models.

When choosing, it is worth paying attention to how functional the device is, what options are offered by the manufacturer and how easy it is to work with it. For hobbyists, just a few settings are usually sufficient. In addition, it is desirable that the device is as easy to use as possible.

The weight of the equipment also matters when choosing. After all, any searches are limited only by the physical capabilities of the operator. The higher the mass of the device, the less time the operator can work with it without interruption.

It is worth paying attention to such an indicator as the tightness of the device. Works can be carried out in different weather conditions. It is not always possible to choose a warm sunny day. Accordingly, not only the operator, but also the equipment must be ready for use in extreme conditions. Today, most universal metal detectors have a sealed housing that protects the device from the effects of atmospheric precipitation.

What are touch screens

Many people think that the era of touchscreens began in the 2000s, with the release of the first PDAs (I hope there are no people who think that the first touchscreen appeared in the iPhone?) However, this is not so. it became the first consumer device with a touchscreen display. TV in 1982. A year later, the first touchscreen PC from HP appeared. 10 years later, in 1993, Apple Newton appeared. the founder of the PDA, which introduced the fashion for styluses (although it was rather a necessity. the screen was resistive), and already in 2007 with the release of the iPhone a modern capacitive screen appeared in the form of which we are all used to seeing him. So the history of touch screens goes back 35 years, and a lot has happened during this time.

Resistive screen Already from the name it is clear what lies at the heart of such a display is electrical resistance. The device of such a screen is simple: there is a substrate above the display (so that it does not deform with a strong pressure), after which there is one resistive layer, an insulator and a second resistive layer already on the membrane: On the left and right edges of the membrane and the lower and upper edges of the resistive layer on the substrate voltage is supplied. What happens when we click on such a display? The resistive layers are closed, the resistance changes, which means that the voltage also changes. and this is easy to register, after which, knowing the resistance of a unit of the resistive layer, you can easily find out the resistance on both axes to the point of depression, and therefore calculate the point of depression itself:

This is the principle of operation of a four-wire resistive screen, and such are no longer used for one simple reason: the slightest damage to the membrane with a resistive layer leads to the fact that the screen stops working correctly. And given the fact that such a screen is usually poked with a sharp stylus, it is not at all difficult to achieve damage.

Then they decided to do it differently: the membrane became conductive, and all 4 electrodes are now located on the resistive layer of the substrate, but already in the corners, and the voltage is supplied only to the membrane. that is, the screen has become five-wire. What happens when you click? The membrane touches the resistive layer, a current begins to flow, which is removed from 4 electrodes, which again allows, knowing the resistance of the resistive layer, to determine the point of contact:

This type is already more “vandal-resistant”. even if the membrane is cut, the screen will continue to function normally (except, of course, the place of the cut). But, alas, this does not eliminate other problems common to all resistive screens, and there are many of them.

Firstly, such a screen perceives only one touch: it is easy to guess that when you press with two fingers at once, the screen will think that you have pressed in the middle of the mowing line connecting the pressure points. The second problem is that you really need to press on the screen, and preferably with a sharp object (fingernail, stylus). Of course, you can get used to it, but this often led to characteristic scratches, which did not add beauty to the screen. The third problem is that such a screen transmits no more than 85% of the light flux, and due to its thickness there is no feeling that you are directly touching the image with your finger.

But, nevertheless, it also has pluses: firstly, it is very, very difficult to break the display in such a screen. it has “triple protection” in the form of a membrane, insulators and a substrate. The second plus is that the screen doesn’t care what you poke at it. you can work with it even with ordinary gloves (which is very important in winter). But, alas, these advantages did not outweigh the disadvantages, and with the release of the iPhone, a boom in capacitive screens began.

Surface Capacitive Screens This is, one might say, a transitional type between the capacitive screens we are used to (which are projection screens) and the old resistive screens. The principle of operation here is similar to a five-wire screen: there is a glass plate covered with a resistive layer, and 4 electrodes at the corners, which apply a small alternating voltage to the plate (why not a constant voltage. I will explain below). When you press such a screen with a conductive grounded object, we get a current leakage at the point of pressing, which can be easily registered: Here is the answer why the voltage is alternating. with a constant voltage with poor grounding, there may be interruptions in operation, but with a variable this is not.

They also have enough problems: the screen is now less protected, and if the glass plate is damaged, the whole one stops working. Again, multitouch is not supported, and moreover. now the screen does not respond to a gloved hand or stylus. they basically do not conduct current.

The only plus of such a screen is that it has become thinner and more transparent than a resistive one, but in general, few people appreciated it. But that all changed with the release of the iPhone, which used a slightly different type of touchscreen that already supported multitouch.

Projected Capacitive Screens Now we have gotten to the modern type of touch screens. According to the principle of operation, it differs significantly from the previous ones. here the electrodes are located with a grid on the inner side of the screen (and not 4 electrodes in the corners), and when you press the screen, your finger forms capacitors with the electrodes, according to the capacitance of which you can determine the location of pressing:

With such a screen device, you can press on it with several fingers at once. if they are located far enough (farther than two adjacent electrodes in the grid), then such presses will be determined as different. this is how multitouch appeared, first by 2 fingers in the iPhone, and now for 10 fingers in tablets. A large number of clicks is no longer needed (there are not enough people with more than 10 fingers), and the definition of more than 5-7 clicks at the same time imposes a serious load on the controller.

One of the advantages of such a screen, in addition to multitouch support, is the ability to make OGS (One Glass Solution): the protective glass of the screen with an integrated grid of electrodes and the display are one piece: in this case, the thickness turns out to be the smallest, and it seems that you are touching the image with your fingers. This also leads to the problem of fragility: when a crack appears on the glass, the grid of electrodes is guaranteed to break, and the screen stops responding to pressing.

These are the main types of touch screens, but there are many others. Let’s start with the oldest type, from which touchscreens began.

Infrared screens Again, the principle of operation is clear from the name: along the edges of the screen there are many light emitters and receivers in the infrared range. When pressed, the finger blocks part of the light, which allows you to determine the location of the pressure. The advantages of such screens at the dawn of their appearance was that they could be equipped with any display, which was done with the TV in 1982. The disadvantages are also obvious. the thickness of such a structure turns out to be impressive, and the positioning accuracy is rather low.

Strain Gauge Screens Screens that respond to pressure (hard pressure). Their huge plus is that they are as “anti-vandal” as possible, so they are used in various ATMs on the street.

Induction screens Again, everything is clear from the name: inside the screen there is an inductance coil and a mesh of wires. When you touch the screen with a special active pen, the strength of the created magnetic field changes. with this, the press is recorded. The main advantage of such a screen is the maximum possible accuracy, so they have proven themselves well in expensive graphic tablets.

Optical screens The principle is based on total internal reflection: the glass is illuminated with infrared illumination, and while there is no pressing, the rays of light are completely reflected at the border of glass and air (that is, there is no refracted ray). When you click on such a screen, a refracted ray appears, and by the angle of refraction (well, or reflection) you can calculate the point of pressing.

Screens on surface acoustic waves Perhaps one of the most complex screens. The principle of operation is that ultrasonic vibrations are created in the thickness of the glass. When you touch the vibrating glass, waves are absorbed, and special sensors in the corners register this and calculate the point of contact: The advantage of this technology is that you can touch the screen with any object, not necessarily conductive and grounded. Minus. the screen is afraid of any dirt, so it will be impossible to use it, for example, in the rain.

DST screens Their principle of operation is based on the piezoelectric effect. when the dielectric is deformed, it is polarized, which means that a potential difference arises. and it can already be calculated. Of the advantages. a very fast reaction speed and the ability to work with a seriously dirty screen. Minus. to determine the location of the finger, it must constantly move.

These are, in general, all types of touch screens. Of course, most of them are outlandish and you are unlikely to encounter them, but the very diversity and development of this technology pleases.

“Whatever the film is, this is a cultural phenomenon”: press secretary of Patriarch Kirill about “Matilda” and dialogue with society

The President came to Valaam with his own circumstances. Of course, part of his program was public, and part of it was closed, non-public. He, like any person, has the right to do so. over, he comes to Valaam every year. And, in addition to the open part, he has a personal program of staying on Valaam. And any normal person can give him the right to privacy. This red box story was also part of what was out of the public domain. This box contained an icon, and this icon was then, as I understand it, intended for the president’s personal use.

Of course, many other pilgrims and ordinary people come to Valaam. The monastery is loved by many famous people. The monastery on Valaam is not looking for public glory, and it is somehow embarrassing to name any names. The monastery is known for its hospitality, and many of our fellow citizens use it.

This is currently under discussion. It is not that some lists will be posted and nailed to some door. Over the past seven to eight years, a very active internal discussion has been going on in the church on a very wide range of issues. There is such a body as the Inter-Council Presence, which includes the laity, the clergy of the entire Russian Church, from all countries. Gathering together, they discuss theological, social and media issues that are on the agenda in the church.

Now there are many topics that we cannot give an exhaustive answer, for example, topics related to bioethics, the attitude of the church to in vitro fertilization, euthanasia, and various issues related to abortion. There are a lot of things to which the church needs to find answers now. For this there is an Inter-Council Presence, which must formulate these answers. The intra-church issue related to professions was also considered at the Inter-Council Presence. Why this caused such a stir, I do not know, but this is rather an internal question, to which a definitive answer will definitely be given.

Of course, the decision about what the church should be is made only by the church fullness, headed by the patriarch and bishops. But in order to make any decisions, you need to hear the opinions and judgments of various people.

Any professions that bring something positive to human life, associated with science, with the development of human society, including astronautics, are fully blessed by the church, and other professions, with the exception of some obscene things. There are no inherently bad things for the church. Of course, the church calls sin a sin, and this is its vocation, but everything that is part of our society is blessed and welcomed by the church.

The institution of military chaplaincy has existed for a long time. In relation to the Russian Orthodox Church, everything is developing very actively. Good relations are developing under the current leadership of the Ministry of Defense. Priests have the right to do their part of the service in the Armed Forces.

Chaplain priests do not have special conditions for serving in a military unit, the priest does the same thing as ordinary officers: he walks in camouflage, eats in the same canteen, and performs training. Like the rest of the officers, he carries out his functions. When necessary, he performs divine services, communicates with soldiers. And this is the most important component of a priest’s service in the army: communication with servicemen, answering their questions, resolving their problems. It is difficult for a person, lonely, it is often difficult to be in the army, especially at first. And here a priest for people who themselves profess Orthodoxy is a very important component so that a person can find a way out of difficult situations and, conversely, rejoice along with the rest of what is happening.

Alexey Uchitel did not shoot a chamber film for some select audience, not a movie for his own. He made a movie for wide distribution. This is his artistic replica addressed to the population of our country.

And he, of course, needs to understand that the perception of his work can be very ambiguous. He needs to be ready for this. Why do negative moods arise now, before the release of the film? I hope that the person understood what he was about and, most importantly, who he was making the film about.

How to Check if iPhone Screen is ORIGINAL!

We must be aware that our last Emperor Nicholas II is not only a historical person, but also a saint, glorified by the church, is a person whose image and holiness are undeniable for millions of people. This person is dear to people not only as a historical person, but also as a saint, close, dear to the heart of a particular person. And here, of course, you need to understand that with this film the director can hurt a lot of people.

The reaction we have is something natural enough. The film, obviously, will cause an ambiguous reaction and will not go unnoticed, including from a negative point of view.

Nobody forced Alexey Uchitel to shoot this film. He took it off and faced a variety of reactions. That being said, I think there will be a positive reaction to the film as well. I’m sure there are right, good sides to him.

You ask: should the church officially rebuke? It is important that the assessment of this film, like any other work of culture, does not come from the church, from the pulpit. One should categorically avoid that the priest, standing on the pulpit, would say in a sermon: this work is good, but this is bad, you cannot go to this film, but go there to burn the cinemas. This, of course, is impossible.

The church cannot evaluate cultural phenomena from its sacred, sacred space of the temple. Whatever this film is, it is still a cultural phenomenon that needs to be left inside this cultural space and not try to drag this cultural space into the church, and, on the contrary, not try the church to unnaturally enter this cultural space.

But, of course, the church is an organism in which many people live with diametrically opposed views. People who are united only by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything else does not correlate at all in some people, there is no similarity. In the main, they are one, and everything else, including the views on the film, can be different.

Everyone needs to be patient when this film is released in order to have an objective assessment of it. Gather the determination to accept the assessment that follows, and to realize that the church is a heterogeneous organism. The hierarchy of the church cannot just take it and say: “This is what you should like, but this is not.” Ordinary free people can express their point of view, this is their right. If they unite themselves around Orthodoxy and say: we, Orthodox, believe that this film is not good enough or just bad, then excuse me. So take their stance.

Of course, in this sense, we always strive for balance and urge people not to go beyond the bounds of decency. In this sense, of course, you need to warn people against excessive aggression. But this is such a painful topic. over, the film was filmed in the year of the centenary of the revolution, next year will be the centenary of the execution of the royal family, and these dates are very significant for many of our fellow citizens.

There is a difference between deliberately shocking people, a caricature genre, and high cinematography, of which Aleksey Uchitel is a part. This is the view of a specific director, a specific artist on a particular historical aspect, and his attempt to convey his idea to the audience with his methods, his tools, his film, and there. deliberate incitement of hatred.

I don’t think it can come to that. There is no doubt that our Russian art is much more adequate and conscious, and I am sure that, whatever this film may be, it is not a caricature and a deliberate distortion of the image of a holy man.

How to choose a screen for a projector

Make sure matte canvas is set on the selected screen. Of course, almost all modern models have a matte surface, but it’s better to clarify. Also, it will not be superfluous to have a black frame around the screen. it helps to clearly fit the image from the projector and make the picture more contrasting.

When choosing the size of the canvas, take into account the area of the room where it will be installed. For example, screens with a width of about 200 cm are best viewed from 4-5 meters. At the same time, pay attention to the height of the canvas. Of course, you can take the screen “for growth” with the prospect of moving to a more spacious room, but in this case, make sure that the model is equipped with a locking mechanism that will allow you to set the desired format.

Why do they change glass on iPhones, but not on other phones??

The cheapest are screens with a conventional IPS matrix (these are the ones installed on most Xiaomi smartphones). Their image quality is quite good, but not flagship either.

Apple and Samsung displays are much more expensive, since they use Retina and Amoled matrices. Without going into their technical features, let’s just say that the cost of such displays is equal to about half or more than half of the cost of the device itself.

It is because of such a significant difference in cost that there are so many of those who change separately glasses on apples and Samsungs, but there are practically no those who do it on other phones.

After reading and assimilating all of the above, we move on to the essence of the main question. is it possible to change the glass on Xiaomi separately from the display ?

Xiaomi display design

Without exception, all screens for Xiaomi smartphones have a modular design. This means that the display (matrix) is glued to the touch glass, and there is no air gap between them. Thanks to this design, it is possible to achieve high image quality and a good viewing angle. Most modern gadgets have the same structure of display modules.

Further risks

Re-glued glass can last for the rest of the life of the phone, or less than 1 hour after installation. Service centers are unlikely to agree to give a big guarantee for the replaced touchscreen, and the client will be very offended to save a couple of hundred rubles and again carry the phone for repair.

The question also remains with the quality of the glass itself and the accuracy of the plywood. It is not uncommon for the glass to peel off the display or, on the contrary, to press on it, forming spots on the screen.

Is it possible to replace the glass separately from the screen on Xiaomi

Is it possible to replace the touch glass on Xiaomi phones separately from the display with a visit of the master to the home / office? In theory, yes, but in practice. not. The answer to this question is very ambiguous, which is actively used by many unscrupulous services, misleading those who want to save customers. In this article, we will analyze all the stages of re-gluing Xiaomi touch glasses and give an exhaustive answer.

The answer to the question

Yes, you can change the glass on Xiaomi separately from the display, but:

  • Nobody does this. since the time spent, the work of the master, the equipment used and the new glass itself in cost is almost close to the cost of a new display module.
  • It doesn’t make sense. since IPS displays on Xiaomi are relatively inexpensive and it is better to put a new one than a refurbished one. Re-glued glass may stop working again, start to peel off or press on the display, forming stains.
  • Almost all services that promise to change glass at an unreasonably low price (usually up to 1000 rubles) are engaged in outright divorce. Either the whole module is changed for the client at the already real cost, or the client refuses and still pays for diagnostics.

The desire to save money on replacing glass separately from the display on Xiaomi can lead to very unexpected consequences for you. If someone promises you to replace the glass at a very low price, evaluate whether all the necessary work for this is worth the money and remember the popular wisdom: “A clever one pays once, a stingy one twice.” but there are no fools among us)

So what kind of screens do they put on us??

What kind of screen do we risk getting by turning to specialists for help? With the original sorted out. they do not exist. Those. the original screen is the one installed on the iPhone upon purchase. Service centers can offer:

Factory Chinese is an adequate display that is factory scaled. Remember that the iPhone (and almost all Apple equipment) is assembled at the Chinese factory Foxconn. No cause for concern.

“Donor” from the original is the only option to get an original screen for your smartphone, provided that the previous owner did not change the screen.

Cheap China. no comment here. Such displays are produced by small Chinese offices that collect “original” components in the literal sense of the word “on the knee”.

The image quality of the replaced display depends on the type of matrix installed. There is also a wide range of choices:

  • Used matrix taken from a donor (made by LG, Sharp)
  • New matrix from LG, Sharp
  • Cheap Chinese counterpart of unknown origin

As a result, there is a significant variation in without any control. You can be supplied with a Chinese display with a low-quality matrix, assuring that it is the original. On the contrary? You don’t believe in fairy tales, really?

There are no original displays for iPhone

Apple’s policy is to completely stop selling original parts for the iPhone and iPad. It is not customary in the company to distribute spare parts between service centers.

Broke your screen? Apple will offer a replacement for the entire device at a surcharge. The cost of such a “repair” is much higher, but you yourself chose the iPhone. accept.

Conclusion: Are you assured in the service center that they will put the “original screen”? Feet in and out.

IPhone Display Classes

There are several classes of alternatives to the original displays from Apple: each has its own quality, its own color rendition, its own skeletons in the closet. From the lowest quality display to the original (best) display, all iPhone displays can be arranged in the following order:

China of unknown origin. Without clan, tribe and any guarantees.

Analogue of class A. This will be delivered to you in most small service centers in the country

Analogue of class AAA. There are many variations: somewhere the matrix is better, but plastic is worse; others have excellent protective glass, matrix and plastic, but not very high-quality cables.

Analogue of the Original class. It’s expensive, but it’s the best you can find.

Original Apple display. You have one and you get it when you buy a smartphone. Take care of it.

The difference between iPhone display types is illustrated in this table:

Glass. the impact resistance of the entire display assembly depends on it, protection from dirt and prints, resistance to haze also affect the price.

Matrix. color rendering, “correct” brightness and uniformity of illumination. With the permission, in principle, everything is not so bad. even handicraft Chinese manufacturers adhere to it.

Plastic. It may turn yellow or white after a few months (white / black iPhone). You pay for how soon this happens.

Loops. glitches, brakes, response speed, sensitivity. it all depends on the quality of the loops.

Frame metal. a low quality screen can simply peel off or loose immediately after replacement.

Glue is another factor that affects the speed of screen delamination (glass separation from the case).

And now the sad statistics. Most service centers prefer AAA or A grade displays. They account for about 90% of repairs in Russia. The analogue of the “Original” class has long been a native of the Red Book. Finding a service center that installs these displays is not easy.

There are no original screens for the iPhone, but what do the services offer then?

A split second and your iPhone meets His Majesty asphalt. Mesh screen, cracks all over the display surface, peeling pieces of glass.

We are looking for a service center. Found! The price is 50-60% lower, moreover, they promise to deliver the original screen from Apple itself, and to finish the entire repair in 20-30 minutes

Gave it for repairs? You were divorced at the same moment when they said that they would put the “original”. Do not believe! Let’s figure out why.

How to understand which display the service center offered

It is difficult to identify a cheap fake “by eye”. However, there are a few points, drawing attention to which, you can at least try to avoid an outright divorce for money.

Price. The cost of the screen is 50-70% lower than the offers of competitors, but you are assured that this is an “Original” class display? Don’t believe it. Displays in this class are significantly more expensive than AAA. There is an abyss between class “Original” and “A”.

Guarantee. Up to three months is the most appropriate period. Nobody else will give. And then, as luck would have it: either it will work for a long time and reliably, or the glass will begin to peel off, the sensitivity drops, the coating peels off.

Offering less than a month warranty? Come on by.

Illumination uniformity. Remember, the replacement screen of the “Original” class (yes, the one that is the most expensive) has an even distribution of the backlight over the entire area. No “darker here, brighter here, and there is a little fog in the corners”, especially around the edges.

Immediately after installation, without leaving the threshold of the service center that provided services, check the quality of the wizard’s work. Are there any backlashes, whether the iPhone case was bent while removing the “native” broken screen and whether the new one responds well to presses, strokes, touches with several fingers.

Remember, if you decide to save money, you run the risk of getting your iPhone for regular screen replacement. Will be more expensive for you and for the health of your gadget.

Liquid crystal panels

Despite the fact that liquid crystal technology was learned back in the 19th century, it began to be used only in the second half of the 20th century. It was these monitors that drove CRT out of the electrical appliance market. screens.

The most important element here is the matrix. It consists of:

  • Backlight lamp filled with halogen;
  • Reflective system and LEDs. They are required so that the illumination is uniform;
  • All contacts are deposited on a glass substrate. There are two substrates, one is located in front of the matrix, the second is behind;
  • The liquid crystals themselves;
  • Polarizers;

How the monitor works

The system unit is necessary for storing and processing information. The monitor allows you to visualize all the work, get information about its progress and results. It is also used to enter data and control the processes occurring in the system unit.

Main parts inside the monitor

Today there are several display options. And, although CRT screens are almost a thing of the past, in some places they can still be found. Bulky monitors have been replaced by compact LCD panels. How do they differ constructively??

CRT. screens

The main part of this screen is a picture tube called a cathode ray tube. It is made of a glass tube with a vacuum inside. The shield is the flat and wide part of the tube. The narrow part is the neck. The back of the device is coated with a special substance, phosphor. He also has an electron gun.

This gun releases electrons that pass through a grating made of metal. The back of the display is covered with phosphor dots in several colors. On it, passing through the cut-off system, the rays fall behind the back of the kinescope.

How does the monitor work?

Since the design of the monitors is different, then the formation of the image is carried out through different actions.

iPhone Screen Mirroring. The Complete Guide!

CRT. screen. A special cannon responds to the formation of the picture. With the help of an electromagnetic field, it releases a dense stream of charged particles. They pass through a metal grate and onto the back of the CRT. Charged particles fall on the phosphor, which begins to glow.

Lcd display. The principle of operation is based on a property of the light beam called polarization. In its normal state, light is not polarized. This can be achieved with the help of special substances that can transmit a beam of light in one plane. They are called polarizers. There are two such polarizers in the matrix and they are installed opposite each other. When one of them rotates, the polarization axis changes. This is how the brightness of the screen is adjusted.

The matrix is a kind of sandwich, the main parts of which are two glass panels, between which crystals are located. There are recesses on the surface of the panels, they regulate the movement of crystals. The image is formed by electrodes, which create an electromagnetic field. And so that it can be seen, the matrix is illuminated using diodes.

REFERENCE! Formation of the image is a rather difficult process from a technical point of view, and each type of screen has its own. Technologies do not stand still and devices are constantly being modernized, in principle, image formation, including.

Screens with a refresh rate of 90-120 Hz

The screen of an average smartphone can be refreshed at 60 Hz. that is, 60 times per second. Thus, in the best case, we get 60 frames per second in interface animations or in games (maybe less, but more, no). In principle, this is enough in most cases, but today smartphones have already reached a certain limit, when there are almost no important parameters for development (well, except for the camera), you can think about the screen frequency.

In general, there have been models with a frequency of 90 Hz before. The same Apple introduced the iPad Pro tablet with a 120 Hz screen several years ago, so there is no need to talk about any new technology, but in 2020, judging by the announcements of various manufacturers, we will see a significant increase in models of smartphones with “multi-hertz” screens.

Asus ROG Phone II. one of the first smartphones with a screen frequency of 120 Hz

What does an increase in refresh rate give us in practice? Smoother scrolling of lists, more precise work with stylus (if supported), faster screen response time, and, in general, the smoother the animation. the more pleasant it looks. But only if, of course, the frame rate of this animation corresponds to the refresh rate of the screen, otherwise there will be no sense.

It should be noted that not all games on a smartphone allow using a high refresh rate. Some games are “locked” at 30 frames per second and do not reveal the potential of even 60 Hz screens. But the developers keep an eye on technical innovations, so the further, the higher the FPS in mobile games will be.

At the moment (if we talk about the models available in the Russian Federation) there is only one phone with a frequency of 120 Hz. this is the Asus ROG Phone 2, but with 90 Hz it is already more. there are OnePlus 7 Pro, and Razer 2, and Nubia Red Magic 3. but it is more difficult to find them in Russia. In 2020, there should be more such smartphones, and, of course, the same Asus and OnePlus will continue to focus on high frequencies. We also expect an increase in screen frequency from Apple (in new iPhones), Samsung (in new Galaxy S and Note), Xiaomi, as an option. Oppo.

Folding screens

What a year ago seemed like an unnecessary exotic to anyone, today it is rapidly gaining popularity. and more smartphones with foldable screens are being announced. and even Apple patented its technology on how to eliminate the appearance of a dent on the fold.
