What is a dead pixel?

A pixel is a point on your monitor or display that can take on any color. If you have a monitor resolution, for example, 1024×768, then this means that your monitor has a whole field of dots. 1024 dots wide and 768 dots high. 786432 points in total (according to the formula for the area of a rectangle). Thus, on your monitor there are almost a million (there are many more, for example 4K) multi-colored dots, from which the image is formed.
A dead pixel is a defective pixel that does not work as expected or does not work at all. Instead of the expected color, the point can be black, white or permanently lit in one color (red, green or blue).
Naturally, broken pixels interfere with computer work, annoy, enrage, distract, and so on. Therefore, it is better to immediately check the purchased device for the presence (or better, the absence) of dead pixels.
If you notice such incorrect points too late, then it is not a fact that you will be able to return the device under warranty. Because some display classes allow for a small number of defective pixels.
To cure dead pixels, you need to use special utilities. Some of them are paid, some are free. The bottom line is to launch the utility, which is a small window with dots constantly flickering in different colors. In the main window of the program, it is proposed to start finding dead pixels by filling the screen with solid colors: red, lime, blue, white, black and yellow.
